Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for inputting characters constituted by syllables or words, that is, characters or languages constituted by the combination of basic alphabets, such as Chinese language or Chinese characters in an easy and convenient manner using a device having a coordinate system such as a touch screen, a tablet or the like. The present invention enables Chinese language or Chinese characters to be inputted in a rapid and efficient manner in accordance with not only the touched point on a screen but also with the touching and moving direction, trace and the like. As the present invention enables Chinese language or Chinese characters to be inputted with less touches and motions, users can input Chinese language or Chinese characters in a more accurate and rapid manner even on a small touch screen such as a mobile phone or a PDA, as compared with a simple keyboard input system.
