Abstract

A SAGD system including at least one borehole having a tubular therein; and at least one baffle disposed on the tubular, the baffle extending radially outwardly of the tubular into proximity with a formation.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS
received by the International Bureau on 14 March 2011 (14.03.2011)
1 A steam assisted gravity drainage system comprising: at least one borehole having a tubular therein; and at least one baffle containing a metal disposed on the tubular, the baffle extending radially outwardly of the tubular into non-sealing proximity with a formation.
2 A steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the at least one baffle is configured to withstand a an applied heated fluid.
3 A steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 2 wherein the heated fluid is steam.
4 Λ steam assisted gravity drainage sy3tcm 3 claimed in claim 1 wherein the system further includes a plurality of open hole anchors.
5 A steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 4 wherein the anchors are spaced along a length of the tubular.
6 A downhole configuration for a steam assisted gravity drainage system comprising: a tubular configured for deployment in a formation requiring applied heat for production; and one or more non-sealing baffles on the tubular, the one or more non-sealing baffles configured to extend in a radial direction from the tubular to reduce annular flow along the tubular when installed in a borehole.
7 A downhole configuration for a steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 6 wherein the radial direction is radially outwardly from the tubular.
8 A downhole configuration for a steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 6 wherein the one or more baffles are configured to extend radially into proximity with a borehole within which the tubular is intended to be installed.
10 9 A downhole configuration for a steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed m claim b wherein the one or more battles are constructed of a steam tolerant material.
10 A downhole configuration for a steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 9 wherein the steam tolerant material is metal.
11 A downhole configuration for a steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 6 wherein the one or more baffles are metal deformable seals.
12 A downhole configuration for a steam assisted gravity drainage system as claimed in claim 6 wherein the one or more baffles come into contact with a formation defining the borehole.

18 A borehole system comprising: a tubular configured to be disposed within an open hole borehole, the tubular being intended to be exposed to and withstand a an applied heated fluid; and one or more non-inflatable tubular-to-formation baffles spaced along the tubular and extending into non-sealing proximity with the formation.
19 A borehole system as claimed in claim 18 wherein one or more of the one or more tubular-to-formation baffles comprise metal material.
11 20 A borehole system as claimed in claim 18 wherein one or more of the one or more tubular-to-formation baffles comprise polymeric material.
