Description

Title: "SEPARATOR APPLIED TO SLIPPERS AND THE LIKE." The present object refers to an unpublished and functional separator applied to strap slippers to relieve pain and prevent hallus valgus, more commonly known as a "bunion". The separator is secured to the slipper and the like next to the feet toes in footwear with a larger shoe sole than the usual one. The present object is intended to allow preventing "bunions" in feet and relieving pain of those who already have them, through a separating device to separate the big toe from the other toes, forcing it to remain in a more vertical position and not curved, as usually happens with the big toe of users who have "bunion". Some factors predispose the appearance of "bunions", such as: frequent use of pointy toes and high-heels in women's footwear; people with the first metatarsal shorter in relation to the other toes; and the hereditary factor, which usually manifests before the 20 years of age. Bunion is the popular name of an elevation (protrusion) that forms in the metatarsal bone of the first toe. The set formed by protrusion, deformity on the lateral of the big toe due to inflammation and thickening of the tissue on the medial face of the joint and the angular deviation towards the second toe is known as hallus valgus. The most common calluses result from skin friction with shoes and deformity of toes, which cause hypertension between the toes or between them and the shoes. Callosities also appear on the foot sole when there is an increased pressure on the toes owing to muscular insufficiency, almost always caused by the use of improper shoes (too tight). Most of the times, those who have bunions are already born with this genetic predisposition although the problem may appear or aggravate by the use of improper shoes. Women, more than men, pay a high price for the elegance and beauty. The incidence of bunions is 20 times higher in women because of tight, high-heeled and pointy toe shoes. There are more than one hundred different types of surgery, but six of them are more ordinarily used. However, surgery is recommended by physicians only in cases of very accentuated deformities where bunions are very painful. The synonym of "foot finger" is toe, thus the first toe or more specifically the hallus; followed by the second toe, third toe, fourth toe and fifth toe. The device is lodged between the first toe and the second toe, forcing the metatarsal, thereby relieving the pain. Silicon can be used as raw material for manufacturing it, but one cannot discard other materials that might be proper. The separator has 3 cm (1.2 in) length, beginning from the tip of the slipper, by 2.5 cm (1.0 in) width and 1.5 cm (0.6 in) height. In the width it starts with 2.5 cm (1.0 in) at the end (toe tip) and narrows along the length, reaching the tip with 1 cm (0.4 in), taking the shape of a triangle. Therefore, a product was developed that allows pushing the first toe to put the metatarsal in its place, combining efficiency, safety, low cost and large industry feasibility. For a perfect view and understanding of the "SEPARATOR APPLIED TO SLIPPERS AND THE LIKE' in question, below are the illustrative drawings, where Fig. 1 - Presents a perspective side view of the slipper with the object in question; Fig. 2 - Presents a perspective upper view of the object in question applied to a slipper; Fig. 3 - Presents an illustrative view of the object in question. According to the illustration and its details, the "SEPARATOR APPLIED TO SLIPPERS AND THE LIKE' hereby in question is characterized for being formed by a triangular device applied to slippers and the like (1), having a protruding separator (2), which is large on one end (3) and narrow on the other (4), provided with right (5) and left (6) lateral protuberances to lodge the toes, first toe (7) and second toe (8), pushing the first toe (7) to put the metatarsal in its place; it further has a narrow tip (4) that must be lined up with the strap division (9) with a minimum distance of 1 cm (0.4 in) (10) and a larger shoe sole (11) to accommodate the toes.
For the advantages it offers and for possessing truly innovative features the "SEPARATOR APPLIED TO SLIPPERS AND THE LIKE' gathers all necessary conditions for earning the Patent of Invention.
