Definitions
- the present invention relates to a collapsible bed for infants comprising a surrounding rim, legs pivotally connected to the rim, and a bed bottom.
- infants There are collapsible childbeds on the market, but they are clumsy and heavy and not specially designed for infants.
- infants is meant to comprise children who cannot sit, i.e. at an age from 0 up to about 6 months.
- infants As far as is known to the applicant there are no beds especially suited for infants and which at the same time are light and flexible to handle in that they with simple operations can be erected and collapsed into a substantially flat package, respectively,
- One object of the present invention is accordingly to provide a collapsible bed for infants of the kind mentioned in the introduction .
- leg structure according to claim 1 With the leg structure according to claim 1 is achieved a light and flexible structure, which is easy to erect and to collapse and which in an erected position is stable and secure .
- Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the bed for infants according to the invention, viewed obliquely from above, in erected position,
- Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the bed for infants according to the invention, viewed obliquely from below, in collapsed position,
- Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of the bed for infants according to the invention, viewed obliquely from below, in erected position, and
- Figs. 4 and 5 shows partial views of a preferred embodiment of the guide according to the invention.
- a textile material shall enclose rim and bed bottom, which material, with channels formed with zip fasteners and/or hook and loop bands as well as overlapping edge elements connectable to each other, together with the bed frame form a bed for infants having protective borders.
- a textile material shall enclose rim and bed bottom, which material, with channels formed with zip fasteners and/or hook and loop bands as well as overlapping edge elements connectable to each other, together with the bed frame form a bed for infants having protective borders.
- Fig. 1 the bed for infants according to the invention is shown in erected position, having a rim 1, legs 2, 3, which are pivotally connected to the rim 1 through fastening means 4, 5.
- Each leg is constituted of an element 6, 7 having a substantially planar inner side, which at its upper part is pivotally connected to the rim.
- the respective leg has feet 8,9 in the form of elongated elements, arranged to protrude substantially equally much on each side of the respective leg.
- These elongated elements can be
- the bed bottom 12 is arranged to be displaceable through first guide elements, mounted in the bed bottom, which elements will be described more in detail below, and arranged to run in guides 13, 14 arranged on the respective leg 2, 3, between a lower end position, Fig. 1, and an upper end position, see Fig. 2.
- the respective leg 2, 3 is mounted on the rim 1 through fastening means 4, 5, which are fixedly connected to the rim 1 and each having two protruding elements 16, 17 with a certain length, being arranged with a mutual distance corresponding to the width of the respective leg and having holes lying flush with each other, and a shaft, suitably a bolt, which runs through said holes, and a corresponding boring in the upper end of the respective leg, which however is not shown in detail in the drawing for clarity reasons.
- the length of the protruding elements 16, 17 corresponds substantially to the thickness of said bed bottom 12 plus the height taken up by the two legs in folded-in position, so that the infant bed in collapsed position forms a substantially flat package, as is illustrated in Fig. 2.
- a tension element 18 is preferably arranged between the legs 2, 3, the length of which is so adjusted that when the bed bottom is transferred to a lower end position, the tension element applies a certain pull force on the legs in order to give the bed stability in erected position.
- the tension element 18 is constituted by a cross-bar 19 consisting of crossed textile or plastic strips attached to the respective leg at their ends. They can for example have thickenings or a sewn-in element at their respective ends, which are introduced in grooves or corresponding means in the respective leg 2,3.
- the bed bottom 12 is guided so that it can be brought up and down on the guides 13, 14 on the respective leg 2,3 through flexible suspension means, which allows locking of the bed bottom 12 in a lower end position at erected bed and which allows partial disconnection of the bed bottom in order to make possible collapsing of the bed while maintaining the connection between the legs and the bed bottom and thereby allow a easy and secure erection of the bed.
- a flexible suspension consisting of a first guide element, which is slidably and pivotally connected to the guide on the leg, and which is prevented from sliding off the guide at the upper and lower parts of the guide by stops.
- This flexible suspension can be achieved in several different ways, of which one presently preferred embodiment is shown in the figures.
- Fig. 4 the flexible suspension and the guide are shown separate and in Fig. 5 is shown a partial view of the bed frame with the guide sitting on a leg and the flexible suspension for the bed bottom sitting in a lower end position.
- the flexible suspension consists of a flexible plate 20 having two parallel slits 21, 22, which extend from an end edge 23 having the first guide element 24 arranged in the guide, to an opposite end edge 25 having a non-slit part 26 of the plate 20, which part forms a hinge joint between the three parts 27, 29, 28 of the plate formed by the slits, and each part 27, 28 of plate lying outside the respective slit, seen laterally of the plate, are intended to be connected to the bed bottom along their respective free end edges 30, 31.
- a flexible suspension which allows for a lifting up of the bed bottom above the respective pivot points of the legs and folding in of the legs in parallel with and underneath the bed bottom for the formation of a flat package .
- the guides 13, 14 arranged on the legs have a T-formed guide rail 32 and two on each side of the guide rail at its lower end arranged support heads 33, 34, against which the bed bottom 12 rests in the erected position of the bed.
- the first guide element 24 is thereby comprised of two towards each other turned guide heads intended to be arranged under the protruding shanks of the rail 32, and at the same time the guide rail 32 has upper and lower stops 35, 36 which prevent the first guide element from disengagement from the guide rail.
- the guide heads of the first guide element can slide freely in engagement with the guide rail they are also pivotal so that they do not prevent the pivotal movement of the legs .
- the guide 13, 14 has detent means 37, 38 intended to arrest the bed bottom in its lower end position at the lover end of the guide, see Fig. 5, which detent means are arranged at a distance above the support heads which corresponds to the thickness of the bed bottom, which detent means- cooperate with U-formed second guide elements 39, 40, arranged at the edge of the bed bottom.
- protruding rail elements are provided on each side of the T-formed guide rail 32, which rail elements extend up to the respective support head, as well as a locking element in form of a resilient tongue 43, 44 fixed on the outside of the respective rail element, which tongues are arranged to extend obliquely outwards from the respective rail element 41, 42, and the ends of which are at a distance from said support head, which distance slightly exceeds the thickness of the bed bottom.
- Push buttons 45 are provided on the resilient tongues, designed to be pushed in a direction towards each other in order to release the U-formed guide elements for collapsing the bed by pushing the bed bottom towards the rim, whereupon the legs freely can be folded in towards rim/bed bottom.
- springs can be arranged in order to bias them in a direction from each other.
- Such a spring arrangement can be designed in different ways with separate spring elements for the respective tongue or alternatively one spring in the form of a wire loop, the ends of which act on the resilient tongues.
- the flexible plate 20 with the first guide elements 24 is made in one piece with the second guide elements 39, 40.
- the U-formed guide elements can be mutually connected to each other through a bar or alternatively they can be separate from each other and have fastening tongues to be mounted on the underside of the bed bottom, preferably together with the flexible plate.
- the flexible suspension consists of a flexible plate folded over itself, where the first guide element is arranged adjacent to an end edge, the other end edge being fixed in the bed bottom.
- the substantially V-formed folded part then forms a resilient joint, which allows lifting up of the bed bottom passed the pivotal mount of the legs in the rim, and thereby allows folding in of the legs. It functions according to the same principles as the above describe preferred embodiment.
