Abstract

The present invention discloses a notebook computer having a touch screen that functions as an assistant input and display device. The notebook computer of the present invention comprises: a main body having an upper surface on which a keypad and a palm rest area are formed; a display unit hinged to the main body; and at least one touch screen located on the palm rest area of the main body. The touch screen is disabled when a touch screen contact area or a touch screen contact pressure exceeds a preset value. The notebook computer of the present invention is advantageous in that the palm rest area thereof can be utilized to improve the utilization of space, and the additionally mounted touch screen functions as an assistant display device and as an input device to provide a variety of GUIs and improve the convenience of use as compared to conventional notebook computers. Further, the notebook computer of the present invention provides a convenient I/O interface which can be operated and checked even without using the function keys on the keypad.
