Description

SELF PROPELLED COIL ASSEMBLY FOR TWO WAY WINDING/UNWINDING OF
FLEXIBLE CABLES
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Technical field
Present invention refers to the coil with two-way winding for a cable or a hose and it can be used in multipurpose works related to industry, agriculture etc. The main technical characteristic of a two-way coil according to the invention concerned is that the electricity or water can be used at the moment of winding and unwinding. Technical characteristic defining the invention is that a cable or a flexible pipe is being wound on the coil starting from the middle of the cable or duct. When the cable is wound, it can be connected to power or water supply and used while unwinding to the extent necessary at each moment. It is important to point out that the self propelled coil assembly should always be in the middle between the connection and the consumer because it facilitates the coil's use (in halls, workshops, gardens, backyards).
Technical problem
Throughout the years, in various economical fields, coils are used for cables and flexible pipes and they are always wound from the connection point until the consumer due to the winding technique the coil has to be unwound before being connected and used. Further on, after its usage the cable or hose must be disconnected from the power source and wound on the existing coil. The invention concerned eliminates the mentioned shortcomings, i.e. electricity or water can be used in the moment of winding and unwinding. Background art
Using a coil for winding is generally used by an established system of winding from one end until the terminal and vice versa. In the present general usage of a winder coil there are often aggravating disturbances, for instance, after disconnecting the power cable of a lawnmower (about 50m) during its storage, it can be irregularly wound in the shape of a digit 8 or likewise. With a new method of winding from the middle of the cable to the coil, the cable is properly wound in a simple way which significantly reduces difficulties and irregularities and at the same time it is not so time consuming.
Disclosure of the invention
The primary aim of the invention is to improve and facilitate the use of a wound cable or hose.
The secondary aim of the invention is to ensure the improved means of using a coil with two-way winding and unwinding.
The additional aim of the invention is to enable and improve the method of usage of the winder coil with winding and unwinding. Additional aims and advantages of the invention are partly shown in the following description and will partly be recognised through its application.
As handling various cables and flexible pipes is in constant use throughout the economic fields in the world it is possible to apply this winding invention in multipurpose designs. For instance one thread coil for two sewing machines or looms. Equally, while installing the power cables for overhead power line it is possible to wind the cable in the workshop from the middle of the coil so that the cable on the field can be unwound in two directions which facilitates the work taking into account kilometer distances and inaccessible terrains. It is possible if necessary to use this invention from the top of the hill down to the valley from two sides. While using this invention for overhead power line cables, the middle part of the unwound cable is transferred to the prepared coil on the stand over the coil drum and fixed in the slot vertically to the coil. Additionally, after unwinding, the cable is loosened and the mounting and dismounting of cable from the coil is cost efficient so that spreading of the cable from the middle part towards the ends is performed easier in relation to the present mode of winding from one end to the other. Applying this method of the overhead power line cable installation is useful in any case and especially in various inaccessible terrains such as hilly areas, swamps, limestone areas, seaside, islands etc.
As the main part of the invention, it is important to display that the area of central cylindrical coil body (drum) contains a carved slot in the shape of a letter Z which is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the coil and functions as a bearing for the cable's or hose's middle part. The slot should be of an appropriate size so that the middle part of the cable together with the fixing cover or fixing elements is situated on the approximately same level as the outer surfaces of cylindrical coil body. The slot's function is fixing and aligning the middle part of the cable with the drum surface area to prevent the eccentric (irregular) winding of the cable to the coil drum as well as the simultaneous winding /unwinding of the cable. To prevent the breaking of the hose or cable, the slot ends are semi circularly rotated for 90° and they are turned in the opposite direction to each other so that the angle between the opposite slot ends is 180°.
Brief description of the drawings
Hereafter the invention is described in detail referring to the drawings where:
Figure 1 shows the coil with the slot in the shape of letter Z,
Figure 2. shows the central cylindrical coil body with the fixing elements for cables or flexible pipes, and
Figure 3. shows the self propelled coil assembly for two-way winding/unwinding of cables or flexible pipes. The invention shown on figures 1. - 3. presents the self propelled coil assembly for simultaneous two-way winding/unwinding of flexible cables, pipes and other flexible elements. Coil for a cable or a pipe with two-way winding according to this invention includes a central cylindrical coil body (1) where winding of the cable (4) starts from the middle part of the cable while the cable ends (4) are spread to two opposite sides allowing cable winding (4) in desirable direction (left or right). The wound cable (4) is connected to water or power supply and can be used during unwinding until the terminal point of winding. The coil (1) is always in the middle between the connection and the consumer and it is necessary to apply the appropriate self propelled coil motion using adequate wheels and a guides. One of the wheels (7) from its outer side has a handle (13) fitted to wind the cable. The coil (1) contains cone sides (2) and its size depends on the scope. The coil (1) is by the means of a shaft (3) joined steadfastly to the wheels (7) so that during the winding or unwinding of flexible elements the entire assembly is movable. Figures 1. and 2. display the central cylindrical coil body (1). On the surface of the coil body (1) there is a slot (6) for placing or fixing the cable (4) starting from the middle of the cable (4). The slot (6) has a circular or square or rectangular cross section and on the surface of the central cylindrical coil body (1) it is longitudinally extended from one end of the cylindrical coil body (1) to the other with slot ends rotated semicircularly for 90° in relation to the longitudinal part of the slot so that on the surface of the cylindrical coil body (1) the slot has a shape of the letter Z. To prevent the breaking of the hose or cable the slot ends are made to form a semicircular turn and are rotated in the opposite direction to each other for 90° so that they make an angle of 180°. The middle of the cable (4) is by the means of one or more fixing elements (5) with bolts (12) fixed steadfastly within the slot (6) enabling the simultaneous winding/unwinding of the cable. Fixing elements (5) have a semicircular form with the radius r1 of the surface overlapping the surface of the central cylindrical coil body (1) equal to the radius r' of cylindrical coil body (1). Self propelled coil assembly on fig. 3. contains furthermore a guide (8) in the shape of letter U with wheels (9) of a smaller diameter. There is an articulated bar (10) installed on the guide (8) and its purpose is to lift, after the completed work and the turning of the articulated bar for 90°, the entire mount from the bottom in order to wind the cable (4) without any disturbances to the cylindrical coil body (1). The guide (8) is by the means of a bearing (11) connected to the shaft (3) fitting each other in order to enable the guide's (8) free movement around the shaft (3).
The invention of winding the cable or pipe on the coil from the middle part can be used in different ways, especially in the household, for instance in lawnmowing or watering the garden. Taking into consideration that it is not necessary to transport it manually, the assembly is self propelled, and during its operation or the usage of electric cable or water house it is being pulled for necessary length so that the coil travels always forward towards the consumer while at the same time the winding is being unfolded on both sides in such a way the winding coil is always situated in the middle between the connection (to power or water supply) and the consumer. For an efficient and simple use of this invention, it is necessary to wind the cable or hose until the end, connect it to the supply and start using it from the beginning of the winding. Additionally, the cable can be wound to the coil in the opposite direction until the end of the winding.
From the previous description of the winding, it is obvious that there are various possible applications, changes and modifications related to the self propelled coil assembly according to the invention concerned and that do not exceed the framework defined by the following scope of claims. Therefore, the description and the attached drawings are considered as illustrative and do not need to be interpreted as limitations of the scope of protection of the invention.
