Abstract

The invention relates to a fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine having a direct fuel injection system, said fuel injection device comprising a housing (2) which has an end (3) that faces a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine and that is close to the combustion chamber and in which a valve element (8) is guided so as to reciprocate. The end of the housing which is remote from the combustion chamber is guided in a guide piece (22) which radially inwardly delimits a control chamber (20) and which radially outwardly delimits an annular guide chamber (24) that extends between the guide piece (22) and the housing (2) and that communicates with a high pressure source (26). The fuel injection device further comprises an internal storage volume in an annular valve chamber (28) which extends between the valve element (8) and the housing (2). In order to devise a fuel injection device which has a long service life and is easy and inexpensive to produce, a closing throttle is disposed in the annular valve chamber (28) between the annular guide chamber (24) and the internal storage volume.
