Abstract

The invention relates to a method for charging a rechargeable battery cell, wherein the battery cell is connected to a power source, and the connection is interrupted as a function of the cell voltage present on the battery cell. In order to refine the method such that more cost-effective recharging of the battery cell is enabled, it is proposed according to the invention that the charging current flowing to the battery cell is limited to a maximum value, and that the charging current is supplied to the battery cell during a first charging phase until the cell voltage has reached a predetermined maximum value, and that subsequently the charging current is supplied to the battery cell in a pulsed manner during a second charging phase, wherein the duration of the current pulses, and/or the duration of the pulse pauses are measured as a function of the cell voltage. The invention further relates to a charging device for carrying out the method.
