Abstract

A metal/fiber-reinforced-resin composite which comprises: a fiber-reinforced resin layer comprising a crosslinked cycloolefin polymer and carbon fibers; and a metallic sheet united with the layer. Also provided is a process for producing a metal/fiber-reinforced-resin composite which comprises superposing a crosslinkable prepreg comprising a cycloolefin polymer, a crosslinking agent, and carbon fibers on a metallic sheet to give an assemblage and crosslinking the assemblage. This metal/fiber-reinforced-resin composite is excellent in adhesion between the metallic sheet and the fiber-reinforced resin layer and in energy-absorbing property (impact resistance). In a severe thermal shock test, the composite is free from problems concerning peeling, cracking, etc.
