Abstract
The present invention provides methods for diagnosing stroke or providing a prognosis for a stroke by identifying the presence or absence of or determining the amount of one or more stroke associated markers. The stroke associated markers may be selected from the group consisting of alpha-tubulin, neurof ilament-L, alpha-globin, tubulin beta 2, Ulip2 protein, myelin basic protein isofortn 1, alpha-1-globin, similar to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, brain abundant, membrane attached signal protein 1 and tubulin alpha-like 3. The present invention also provides a diagnostic kit for diagnosing stroke or for providing a prognosis for a stroke by identifying the presence of or determining the amount of one or more stroke associated markers.
