Abstract

In an air conditioner for automobile, an evaporator (2) and a heater core (3) are arranged in a unit case (1), and defrost air outlets (4L, 4R), foot air outlets (5L, 5R) and ventilation air outlets (6L, 6R) are provided as the outlets of conditioned air produced by mixing cold air and warm air. A passage lateral partition (7) for smoothly connecting the heat exchange plane split line of a vertical heater core (3) and the split line of each of air outlets (4L, 4R, 5L, 5R, 6L, 6R) at the upper portion of the case is set in the unit case (1). The upper passage of the passage lateral partition (7) serves as a defrost/foot passage (8), the lower passage of the passage lateral partition (7) serves as a ventilation passage (9), and mix doors (10, 11, 14, 15) and cold air bypaths (12, 16) are set, respectively, in the defrost/foot passage (8) and the ventilation passage (9).
