A system and a method of translating online chats enabling a multiplicity of user, using terminals, to communicate through said system, wherein said system comprises at least one dictionaries database enabling to store a multiplicity of lingual dictionaries; a translation module enabling online translation of content of users' chats, wherein said translation module enables online translating the content of a multiplicity of languages into a multiplicity of other languages, using said dictionaries database to execute the online translation according to predefined rules and according to the user's selections; and a presentation module enabling to present the translated content to the user. The translation module may further enable users to select the languages to which the content, received from another user participating in the chat, is translated.

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
[0001] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application 60/996,810, filed December 6, 2007, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The present invention generally relates to the field of online chats. More particularly, the present invention relates to online lingual processing of chats.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Video conferences and web chats are widely used enabling a multiplicity of users located in a multiplicity of places to communicate through visual, textual and/or audio communication services through various communication networks such as the internet, WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) and the like. [0004] Many international and intercontinental video conferences and web-chats enable users from all over the world to watch one another and hear one another while conversing, and respond in a substantial real-time or online timing. [0005] Web systems that enable web-chats and online conferences usually comprise online computerized means (e.g. a PC using internet web services and/or a cellular phone using the WAP network enabling to use the phone as a web portal); video recording means such as a video camera and microphones enabling users to login to a website through any software application enabling to carry out the online transmission and receiving of the video, text and/or audio data streams. [0006] When video conferences, internet B logs and/or web chats are carried out between participants that speak different languages and logon from different countries and nationalities, participants usually accommodate by using a commonly known language such as English or French to allow the majority of participants to understand and participate the chat. This may lead to confusion and mistakes where participants may use languages they do not fully control, which may be critical when crucial and important issues are being discussed and decided through those chats.
SUMMARY
[0007] The present invention, in some embodiments thereof, provides a system and a method for translating online chats enabling a multiplicity of user, using multiple terminals, to communicate through said system.
[0008] According to embodiments, the system may comprise at least one dictionaries database enabling to store a multiplicity of lingual dictionaries; a translation module enabling online translation of content of users' chats, wherein said translation module enables online translating the content of a multiplicity of languages into a multiplicity of other languages, using said dictionaries database to execute the online translation according to predefined rules and according to the user's selections; and a presentation module enabling to present the translated content to the user. The translation module may further enable users to select the languages to which the content, received from another user participating the chat, is translated. [0009] Each dictionary in each dictionaries' database may be associated with at least one contextual field and at least one language and wherein each word in said dictionary is associated with its corresponding translation in at least one of the other dictionaries in said database. [0010] The translation and presentation modules may further enable translating a received content of at least one user into sign language (for deaf participating users), by enabling presenting at least one virtual figure who presents the translated content in sign language.
[0011] The system may further comprise a multiplicity of dictionaries databases, each comprising at least one dictionary enabling to translate content of one language to another, wherein each dictionary is further associated with at least one contextual field and at least one language, wherein the contextual field enables translating the received content according to the context of the field.

At least one subscribers database 300 may enable storing the users' 10 identification parameters (e.g. names and their associated user names and passwords) as well as all the users' 10 accounts related data such as, for example, URL or Email addresses of other users 10 that may and may not be subscribed in the system 100 with which the user 10 charted in the past and the like.

For example, user (a) 10 speaks and writes in Hebrew selecting the received content to be translated into Hebrew where user (b) 10 speaks and writes Japanese selecting his received content to be translated to Japanese and to English, since another participant of the chat (using either the same or a different terminal 20 than that of the user (b) 10) is an English speaker.

For example, the user 10 may select Japanese as his selected language for the received content, and the field of "agriculture" as the contextual field allowing the chat supporting application 120 to search the dictionaries database 200 accordingly. The word "green+house" for example may be translated according to another dictionary to the corresponding Japanese or any other language's word(s) meaning the color of "green" and a "house" where under the context of agriculture, the combination "green+house" (aurally pronounced by the other participant or textually written in a Blog, for example) may be translated to a structure enabling to control humidity and temperature for growing of plants. [0062] Fig. 3 is a flowchart schematically illustrating a process of setting translation definitions for web chats, according to some embodiments of the invention. According to these embodiments, the process may comprise the steps of: [0063] selecting the translation field 31 (meaning the contextual field according to which the translation may be carried out); [0064] selecting the translation type(s) 32 (defining the process according to which the translation may be carried out: meaning translating textual content, an aurally inputted content or both);

[0071] According to embodiments, the translation module 123 may additionally or alternatively enable translating the received and/or the transmitted content into sign language, where, for example, a virtual figure presents the translated content visually into sign language for deaf participant(s).
[0072] Fig. 4 is a schematic illustration of a main page 400 of the website enabling online translation and chat services, according to some embodiments of the invention.
According to these embodiments, the main page 400 may comprise the following interface options: [0073] general 451 which may be an option that may open subject-sorted chats allowing the user 10 to enter a chat according to the subject;
[0074] support 452 enabling the user 10 to access technical and other supporting options such as, for example, upgrading for improving of the video transmission etc.;

[0076] Forums 454 enabling the user 10 to enter forums of different subjects and fields;
[0077] open chat rooms links 410 that may enable the user 10 to enter free chat rooms sorted according to predefined subjects allowing the user 10, according to embodiments of the invention, the presented open chat room links 410 may be changing enabling to show a number of rooms in a predefined time-interval;
[0078] registered users' link 420, where users 10 that are already registered at the subscribers' database 300 as the website's subscribers may enter their own accounts and chat rooms and translation services; and
[0079] registration link 425 that may enable unregistered users 10 to register as subscribers of the website.
[0080] According to some embodiments of the invention, the main page 400 may additionally comprise options such as: (i) "messages" for example, enabling the user
10 to transmit and receive text messages that mat also be translated through the translation module 123; and (ii) advertising means such as, for example commercial banners, links and the like.
[0081] According to some embodiments of the invention, to fully enter the Blog or chat rooms 410 the user 10 may be obliged to either enter his security parameters (e.g. password and user name) or register as a subscriber. The identification of the user 10 may only reveal a nickname (which may be the user name) to keep the users' 10 privacy.
[0082] Fig. 5 is a schematic illustration of a chat room page 410 of the online translation and chat services website, according to some embodiments of the invention. According to these embodiments, the chat room page 410 may comprise: (A) a translation menu 50 comprising optional interface 121 input settings such as, for example, (i) a received-content translation languages list 51 enabling the user 10 to select the language to which the received content may be translated; (ii) a transmitted- content translation languages list 52 enabling the user 10 to select the languages to which the transmitted content may be translated; (iii) lists of contextual fields 53 enabling the user 10 to select a desirable contextual field according to which the translation dictionary may be selected; and (iv) a presentation settings tool 54, enabling the user 10 to define the settings of the presentation of the received translated content (e.g. presentation type (aural, visual or textual), position of visual or textual translation in the chat window etc.); and (B) a chat menu 60 comprising an interface 121 for optional input settings such as, for example: (i) video options 61 enabling users 10 to define at least some of the video settings of the chat; (ii) audio options 62 enabling users 10 to define at least some of the audio settings of the chat; (iii) text options 63 enabling users 10 to define at least some of the text settings of the chat.
[0083] According to some embodiments of the invention, the chat room page 410 may further comprise a presentation window showing all chat rooms 410 (also known as "chat boxes")that are currently available.

The alert message may be transmitted to the maintainer's communication device such as cellophane and the like - as a predefined text message (e.g. through short messaging service (SMS) technology).

[0088] According to some embodiments of the invention, subscribed users of a predefined status in the system 100 may also be provided with extra security tools, such as encoding software utilities that the subscribers can install in their terminals, enabling to encode the communication content transmitted to the other subscriber defined in the private chat (either textual, aural and/or visual - depending upon the system's definitions) and translate the received encoded content. For example, if the chat is translated textually, the transmitted translation-text may be encoded according to a predefined algorithm operated by pre-installed software before finally transmitted to the other subscriber where the same software comprises the reversing algorithm enabling to translate received encoded content back to comprehensible text according to the selected translation language and the selected contextual field. [0092] According to embodiments, each dictionaries database 200 may enable translating one language into a predefined main language (such as English or French), where to translate the content received in a first language into a second language, the translation module may first translate the received content in the first language into the main language and then translate the content in the main language into the second language. For example, to translate content entered in Japanese into Spanish, the Japanese content may be translated into English (as the predefined main language) and from English to Spanish.
[0093] While the invention has been described with respect to a limited number of embodiments, these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of the invention, but rather as exemplifications of some of the preferred embodiments. Accordingly, the scope of the invention should not be limited by what has thus far been described, but by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.

Claims

What is claimed is:
1. A system of translating online chats enabling a multiplicity of user, using terminals, to communicate through said system, wherein said system comprises: at least one dictionaries database enabling to store a multiplicity of lingual dictionaries; a translation module enabling online translation of content of users' chats, wherein said translation module enables online translating the content of a multiplicity of languages into a multiplicity of other languages, using said dictionaries database to execute the online translation according to predefined rules and according to the user's selections; and a presentation module enabling to present the translated content to the user, wherein said translation module further enables users to select the languages to which the content, received from another user participating the chat, is translated.
2. The system of claim 1, wherein each dictionary in said database is associated with at least one contextual field and at least one language and wherein each word in said dictionary is associated with its corresponding translation in at least one of the other dictionaries in said database.
3. The system of claim 1, wherein the translation and presentation modules further enable translating a received content of at least one user into sign language, by enabling presenting at least one virtual figure who presents the translated content in sign language.
4. The system of claim 1, further comprising a multiplicity of dictionaries databases, each comprising at least one dictionary enabling to translate content of one language to another, wherein each dictionary is further associated with at least one contextual field and at least one language, wherein the contextual field enables translating the received content according to the context of the field.
5. The system of claim 1, further comprising an interface enabling users to register to a chat website, execute chats, select chat options, select chat participants, and select translation related options.
6. The system of claim 1, further comprising a chat module enabling to process, transmit and receive data to allow executing and supporting of chats between a multiplicity of users using a multiplicity of terminals.
7. The system of claim 6, wherein the modules are combined in chat supporting application associated with a chat web site including a chat web page.
8. The system of claim 7, wherein the web page comprises a translation menu comprising at least one of: a received-content translation languages list enabling the user to select the at least one language to which the received content is translated; a transmitted-content translation languages list; a lists of contextual fields, enabling the user to select at least one contextual field according to which the translation dictionary is to be selected; and a presentation settings tool, enabling the user to define the settings of the presentation of the received translated content.
9. The system of claim 8, wherein the web page further comprises a chat menu, which further comprises at least one of: video options enabling users to define at least some of the video settings of the chat; audio options enabling users to define at least some of the audio settings of the chat; and text options enabling users to define at least some of the text settings of the chat.
10. The system of claim 9, wherein the chat room page further comprises a presentation window showing all chat rooms currently available.
11. The system of claim 6, further comprising at least one subscribers' database, operatively associated with the interface enabling users to subscribe to the translation services and define security settings.
12. The system of claim 6, further enables users participating in a chat, to view content of other participants of the chats as translated and presented to other users and enabling the users to correct the translation presented to the other users.
13. The system of claim 1, wherein the translation module further enables receiving content of at least one type: textual and aural.
14. The system of claim 1, wherein the presentation module further enables presenting the translated content in at least one presentation type: textual, visual and aural.
15. The system of claim 1, further enables online translation of a multiplicity of received content languages into a multiplicity of other languages to a multiplicity of users, simultaneously.
16. The system of claim 1, further enables online presentation of the translated content in a multiplicity of translated languages to a multiplicity of users, simultaneously.
17. The system of claim 1, the entire chat is presented in a chat box to each user, wherein the chat box is a window presenting all the visual and textual content of the chat, wherein the presentation of the translated content in the chat box is textual, and wherein the presentation module further enables presenting the translated text according to the characters, linguistic and grammatical rules of the language to which the content was translated.
18. The system of claim 17, further enables adjusting the presentation of the translated content according to the dimensions and limitations of the chat box.
19. The system of claim I, wherein each dictionaries database enables translating one language into a predefined main language, wherein to translate the content received in a first language into a second language, the translation module enables first translating the received content in the first language into the main language and then translate the content in the main language into the second language.
20. A computer implemented method of online translation of chats including a multiplicity of users participating in the chat using a multiplicity of languages, said method comprising: selecting at least one language to which the received content of each user in the chat is to be translated; translating the received content to the at least one selected language; and presenting the translated received content according to predefined rules, to at least one user participating in the chat.
21. The method of claim 20, further comprising selecting a translation contextual field, according to which the translation is carried out.
22. The method of claim 21, wherein the contextual field selected defines the dictionary type from which the translation is searched retrieved.
23. The method of claim 20, further comprising selecting a translation type defining the process according to which the translation is to be carried out.
24. The method of claim 20, wherein the translation is carried out simultaneously into a multiplicity of languages.
25. The method of claim 24, wherein the he translated content, translated into a multiplicity of languages, is simultaneously presented to a multiplicity of users who participate in the chat.
26. The method of claim 20, wherein translating a first language of the received content into a second language includes translating the received content of the first language into a main language and then translating the content in the main language into the second language.
27. The method of claim 20, further comprising enabling users participating in a chat, to view content of other participants of the chats as translated and presented to other users and enabling the users to correct the translation presented to the other users.
28. The method of claim20, the entire chat is presented in a chat box to each user, wherein the chat box is a window presenting all the visual and textual content of the chat, wherein the presentation of the translated content in the is textual and presented in a chat box, and wherein the presentation module further enables presenting the translated text according to the characters, linguistic and grammatical rules of the language to which the content was translated.
29. The method of claim 28, further comprising adjusting the presentation of the translated content according to the dimensions and limitations of the chat box.
