Abstract

A load/unload type disk device having a ramp mechanism which, when a head for reading and writing information from and to a disk is evacuated to the outside of the disk by a swing arm when the disk device is not operated, holds a lift tab provided at the front end of the swing arm. An air flow path smoothly connected to a guide slope of the lift tab is formed on the guide slope up to the rear surface of the ramp mechanism, which causes air flowing in the air flow path to separate from the magnetic disk. Thus, abrasion powder accumulated on the lift tab and dropped on the guide surface when the lift tab collides with the guide surface is not scattered on the magnetic disk, and this prevents a head crash and head contamination.
