Description

ROBOTIC PHONTON AND AUTOMATIC RUBBISH SCREENING SYSTEM, TO CLEAN UP RUBBISHES FLOATING INTO AND OUT OF WATERS ZONE
Engineering Area of Invention
This invention is related to the Latest Technology to clean up rubbishes floating into and flowing out of waters zone, either inland waters zone (rivers, reservoirs and lakes) or beaches and open sea. More specifically, this invention will use a robotic phonton and a rubbish screening system. Therefore, this invention is more specifically aimed at cleaning up rubbishes, operating by integrating the phonton motorboat technology guided by human as operator and searching for rubbish. This technology will possibly work automatically by using solid censor (rubbish finder) in detecting rubbishes in the water and taking out such rubbishes automatically as robot wishes. Therefore, such technology according to this invention can support "Clean Sea, Beach, Reservoir, River and Lake Program" in various big cities all over Indonesia and in other parts of the world. For further description and easy writing, this kind of technology is hereafter referred to as "Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner" .
Invention Background
Rubbishes flowing out and in the beach, sea, lakes, reservoirs and also big rivers are very serious issues to be immediately tackled. All efforts are concentrated to lift up such rubbishes from the beach, open sea, reservoirs, lakes and other big rivers. The main issue caused by such rubbishes is disturbance to propeller engines of motorboats at the beach, sea, reservoirs, lakes, and other big rivers almost all over the world. Other serious issues are the pollution and disturbance to tourism at the beach, sea, reservoir and lake almost all over the world as a result of rubbishes flowing in from rivers flowed into and rubbishes willfully disposed by irresponsible persons into beaches, sea, reservoirs and lakes almost all over the world.
The issue of rubbishes is also very influential in fishery breeding or cultivation, environmental pollution and damage of tourism industry and image at the beaches, sea, reservoirs and lakes. Take for example; fish catch of fishermen along the beach and sea of Jakarta is decreasing up to 75%. As a result, total fish living in the beach and sea of Jakarta have dramatically decreased as a result of pollution and damages of sea habitat, such as coral reef by rubbishes flowing out from rivers flowed into the beach and sea of Jakarta.
A number of national media have also widely disclosed this issue where the radius of rubbish pollution has reached over 75 km starting from the mouth of Marina Beach of Jakarta. It means that it has reached the Islands of Bidadari in the Islands of Seribu group. The regent of the Islands of Bidadari and his corps has frequently expressed this case and requested very serious attention from the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta as well as Central Government to take into account and tackle this terrible pollution of Jakarta bay against the attacks of rubbishes coming by rivers into Jakarta Bay.
Incomes from tourism sector like hotel, cottage and resort found at the Islands of Seribu group are worsening as they are complaining about the decrease in occupancy rate up to no more than 20% remaining as a result of the reluctance of guests coming from Jakarta to spend their vacation to the Islands of
Seribu group as a result of rubbish pollution of waters of the Islands of Seribu. Tourists seem reluctant to swim, snorkel and ""* J ~" scuba-dive at the reefs found at the Islands of Seribu because what they find are rubbishes and damages of coral reefs once found there .
A group of fishermen who usually sail to the sea and try to catch fish at the Beach group and Bay of Jakarta have several times made rallies or demonstration actions to the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta because their fishing yield and green shellfish breeding that they cultivate at the Beach and the Islands of Seribu group have decreased up to no more than 25% remaining. A very conspicuous reason of such fishermen is rubbishes that have polluted and poisoned various sea life and biota found there. The fishermen voice and urge some concrete programs and actions from Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta to possibly prevent, tackle rubbishes flowing out from areas of DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java into the Beach and the Islands of Seribu group.
It can be imagined how the growth of reefs and sea biota found in the Islands of Seribu group is damaged and its growth is adversely disturbed because of huge piles of rubbishes flowing into and settled in the reefs along the Islands of Seribu group. Department of the Environmental Affairs and UNESCO, one of the world' s agencies that handles the environmental pollution in cooperation with the University of Indonesia, have several times pointed out this case. The very immediate and urgent action should be taken by all parties, including making and creating technology that can tackle the issues that are suggested above.
According to various sources and data obtained from the national media, the total amount of rubbishes flowing into the Beach and Bay of Jakarta have reached between 1500 up to 2000 tons per day. Putting into cubic, such quantity will be more or less 6,000 up to 8,000 Cubic Meters of rubbishes per day flowing into and polluting the Beach and Bay of Jakarta. We can imagine how much pollution has occurred in the last 20 years. It reaches almost 43.8 million up to 58.4 cubic meter rubbishes flowing into and polluting the Beach and Bay of Jakarta.
Types of rubbishes that flow into the Beach and Bay of Jakarta are varied, ranging from rubbishes from households, traditional and modern markets, industries up to rubbishes originated from gardens, upstream rivers that flow into the Beach and Bay of Jakarta. Even, industrial rubbishes like car tires have never appeared before floating on the surfaces of rivers, Beach or Bay of Jakarta, but now there are a lot of rubbishes of these car tires found and settled in reefs in the Beach and the Islands of Seribu group.
Several main rivers and streams flowing into the Beach and Bay of Jakarta are, among others, West Flood Canal and Angke River, Mokervart River and Cengkareng Drain, Sunter River, Cakung Drain, East Flood Canal (under construction) , Ciliwung Kota River, Ancol River, etc. It can be ascertained that all rivers/streams mentioned above each time will bring in and carry thousand cubic meters of rubbishes to the Beach or Bay of Jakarta.
Various efforts are made by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, among others, setting up trapping for rubbishes in rivers flowing into the Beach and Bay of Jakarta, so as to trap such rubbishes and make them not flow into the Beach or Bay of Jakarta. However, the setting up of such rubbish trappings is too few, in terms of number, and is not proportional (it is insufficient) compared to the total number of the rivers flowing into the Beach and Bay of Jakarta. As a consequence, it requires a lot more installations of rubbish trappings at various rivers/stream points flowing into the Beach and Bay of Jakarta, including river/stream outfalls that have never had rubbish trappings.
Government of the Islands of Seribu Regency has also initiated and made various efforts in tackling this Beach and
Bay of Jakarta pollution, among others, by operating rubbish picking boats, like catching fish at sea, but the outcome generated from such simple technology is very minimum and not maximum. The system currently being applied still greatly depends on and employs human labor such that its capabilities and endurances are still very limited.
Sanitary and Cleaning Services Office of Provincial
Government of DKI Jakarta has done the same thing, but the method applied does not seems maximum so that the removal or lifting of rubbishes from the sea bottom at the Beach and Bay of
Jakarta is very far from expectation.
Originated from such issues mentioned above, the inventor designs and plans the Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner that may be used in tackling pollution in the Beach and Bay of Jakarta over million of cubic meter rubbishes that have flowing into and out of the Beach and Bay of Jakarta. The Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner according to this invention is very efficient in lifting up rubbishes from the sea bottom. This equipment can detect the presence of rubbishes floating and carried by sea current to be then lifted from the sea and then, carried onshore to be further processed or destroyed.
The Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner according to this invention does not require many labor forces in its operation. This rubbish screening system at sea, reservoir and lake has fully used modern technology and worked automatically so that the rubbish catch outcome expected will be maximum. It is not necessary for workers who operate this Rubbish Screening System according to this invention to be present to spread out nets for rubbish catcher since, in addition that they are not only dangerous against the life of sea biota, but also dangerous to the coral reefs found in the Beach and Bay of Jakarta.
The Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner according to this invention will possibly detect and run after the presence of such rubbishes in the sea, reservoir and lake waters. The operator is only required to direct this equipment to rubbishes floating in the waters zone, then this Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner will automatically lift up such rubbishes from the waters zone and put them into the rubbish collecting container already provided.
It is possible to operate this Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner during the sunny and hot day, evening time, rainy day or dry condition, even at night time. The operator just operates this phonton motorboat, without being necessary to pull up the net in order to lift up rubbishes from the waters zone. The Latest Technology on Waters Zone Rubbish Cleaner according to this invention are lifting them automatically and constantly without being exhausted, weary and with no fatigue.

If the two rubbish baskets (914) are fully filled with rubbish, such rΛibbish baskets (014) will be then lifted up by the lifting hoist (905) available at both sides of this rubbish screening phonton motorboat (911) to be then removed into a service motorboat (not shown in the Figure) which will then carry such rubbish baskets onshore, at the pier such rubbish baskets will be further removed into dump trucks already available at the pier edge. After removing such rubbish baskets into the truck trucks, such rubbishes will be then carried away to Terminal Dumping Site to be further processed. p. At time the rake (8) has reached end of screen bar (1), pressure from hydraulic pump (23) at hydraulic powerpack
(21) to hydraulic cylinder #A (24) will be reduced into between 0 up to 75 bar so as no pressure shock occurred at end of screen bar (1) .
q. After spilling out the rubbish into the horizontal conveyor (16), then the PLC and computer software system will read the pressure change so reduced at time the rake (8) is at end of the screen bar (1) and over the horizontal conveyor #B (16) to further instruct the hydraulic cylinder #B (12) to lift up to its maximum position read by the metal censor technology #5 (49) . After that, further instruction from the PLC and computer software system is hydraulic cylinder #A (24) to reverse up to maximum reverse position read by censor technology #2 (19) .
r. After reading such maximum reverse position by the metal censor technology #2A (19), the PLC and computer software system will then instruct the motor and reducing teeth (29) available at the moveable frame (11) to move forward to pick rubbishes stuck on the screen bar, then where such forward stroke will be as far as the length of rake (8) plus 5 up to 10 cm (1 stroke) . The forward stroke is censored by the metal censor technology #4 (31) mounted on the motor and reducing teeth (29) . After the moveable frame (11) forwarding one (1) stroke), then it will rake down (8) and pick up rubbish as already explained above.
s. The moveable frame (11) will return to home position if the forward stroke has reached the maximum position and this position will be read by the metal censor technology #4 (31) . And so on, this rubbish screening operates up to all rubbishes stuck at the screen bar are cleared and lifted up in whole, then STOP order is instructed by using buttons available on the control panel.
t. All automatic operations as explained above may be fully handled manually by utilizing control buttons available on the control panel (17). Based on this method, this rubbish screening phonton system categorized may be automatically
(FULL AUTO) and manually operated.
