Abstract

A power transfer device (100) transfers power from a power transmission unit (30) to a power reception unit (40) by arranging a transmitting coil (1) and a receiving coil (2) to be opposed to each other. In the opposing coils, the effective series resistance of one coil element is denoted by Rw(Ω) and the effective series resistance of the coil obtained when the other coil opposing the one coil is short-circuited is denoted by Rs(Ω). When the maximum frequency at which the one coil satisfies the condition Rs > Rw is denoted by f1(Hz), the one coil and the other coil are selected so that f1 becomes 100 kHz or more, and the frequency for driving the one coil is set to a frequency less than f1(Hz). Preferably, a magnetic plate and a metal plate are equipped on the opposite side of a face opposing the one coil.
