Abstract

　中心電極に設けられた電極チップとの間で火花放電間隙を形成する発火部（８０）は、接地電極（３０）の内面（３３）から針状に突出する形態をなす。発火部（８０）は、貴金属部材（８１）と中間部材（８６）とが接合されてなるものであり、この中間部材（８６）は、貴金属部材（８１）の熱伝導率よりも低い熱伝導率を有するように、その材料が調整されている。これにより、貴金属部材（８１）からの熱が中間部材（８６）を介して接地電極（３０）側へ逃げる経路において熱引きが制限され、貴金属部材（８１）は従来より高い温度に保たれるので、貴金属部材（８１）が火花放電間隙で形成される火炎核に対する消炎作用は低減され、着火性が向上する。
