Abstract

This invention provides a phosphor mixture for constituting a phosphor part (23) for forming a display device such as PDP. The phosphor mixture comprises a plurality of phosphor particles (32) and inorganic pigment particles (31) dispersed in the plurality of phosphor particles (32). The color tone of the inorganic pigment particles (31) is of the same series as the color tone of the plurality of phosphor particles (32). In this case, the percentage surface area of the inorganic pigment particles (31) is not more than 20%. The percentage surface area of the inorganic pigment particles (31) is defined as total surface area of the inorganic pigment particles (31) except for the area in intimate contact with the phosphor particles (32)/the total surface area of the mixture of the inorganic pigment particles (31) with the phosphor particles (32) except for the mutually intimately contacted area. According to the above constitution, since the reflectance of visible light other than the luminescent color can be lowered while suppressing a lowering in the display brightness of the display device, the light room contrast can be improved.
