Abstract

A first characteristic conversion section (110) converts the photoelectric conversion characteristic of image data outputted from an imaging sensor (3) into a predetermined photoelectric conversion characteristic suitable for a dynamic range compression processing by a compression section (120) to generate logarithmic image data (V1). An exposure correcting section (130) corrects the exposure level of the logarithmic image data (V1). A dynamic range compression section (140) executes the dynamic range compression processing to the logarithmic image data (V1). A second characteristic conversion section (150) converts the photoelectric conversion characteristic of logarithmic image data (V3) to which the dynamic range compression processing is applied by the dynamic range compression section (140) into a predetermined photoelectric conversion characteristic suitable for a processing by a processing section (160) connected to the subsequent stage.
