Abstract

 回路面積および回路コストの小さな増加で、消費エネルギーを低減した汎用STN液晶ドライバを使用したコレステリック液晶表示装置が開示されており、画素をプレーナ状態にする第1ステップと、画素においてフォーカルコニック状態の混在比を増加させる第2ステップと、を実行するコレステリック液晶表示装置において、電圧発生回路と、電圧発生回路からの所定の電圧に基づいて画素に電圧パルスを印加するドライバ回路28,29と、を備え、電圧発生回路は、電源電圧から昇圧電圧を発生する昇圧部41と、電圧制御信号を発生する電圧切替部42と、昇圧電圧から電圧制御信号に応じた所定の電圧を発生する電圧安定部43と、を備え、電圧安定部43は、昇圧電圧の変動に対する出力電圧変動を抑圧するように構成されており、昇圧部は第1ステップと第2ステップで、昇圧比を切り替える。
