Abstract

This invention relates to a method of managing multimedia service on a multimedia hand-held device including a multimedia player by coupling the multimedia hand-held device to a multimedia receiver device having a Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) receiver for receiving DVB-broadcast channels from DVB service stations. When coupled a command signal is issued instructing the DVB receiver to initiate service installation with the DVB service stations. At the multimedia receiver device side a multimedia file system made of service stations files identifying the service stations along with the tuning frequency of the service stations. The multimedia file system is then exported to the multimedia hand-held device where it is presenting to the user of the multimedia hand- held device as virtual file system. When selecting a file from the virtual file system a file- open command is issued indicating the selected service station and the tuning frequency of the selected service station. The file-open command is exported to the multimedia receiver device where it triggers the DVB-receiver to the tuning frequency of the selected service station. The multimedia content of the selected service station is subsequently transported to the multimedia hand- held device where it is played via the multimedia player.
