Abstract
Disclosed is an electroluminescent device comprising a pair of electrodes and an electroluminescent layer arranged between the electrodes and containing at least a light-emitting layer. The light-emitting layer includes a matrix material containing at least one organic compound, and a quantum dot which is dispersed in the matrix material and has a surface protected by a protective material. The protective material contains a first protective material, and when the absolute value of the ionization potential of the first protective material is represented by Ip(h), the absolute value of the electron affinity of the first protective material is represented by Ea(h), the band gap of the first protective material is represented by Eg(h), the absolute value of the ionization potential of the organic compound is represented by Ip(m), the absolute value of the electron affinity of the organic compound is represented by Ea(m), the band gap of the organic compound is represented by Eg(m), and the band gap of the quantum dot is represented by Eg(q), the following conditions (A)-(C) are all satisfied. (A) Ip(h) < Ip(m) + 0.1 eV (B) Ea(h) > Ea(m) - 0.1 eV (C) Eg(q) < Eg(h) < Eg(m)
