Abstract

　磁気的に分離した磁気記録パターンを有する磁気記録媒体の製造方法であって、次の順序で実施する各工程を含む。（イ）非磁性基板上に磁性層を形成する工程、（ロ）磁性層を分離する領域の磁性層の表層部を反応性プラズマもしくは反応性イオンに曝す工程、（ハ）磁性層に不活性ガスを照射する工程。好ましくは、工程（イ）の後、（ロ）磁性層を分離する領域の磁性層の表層部を除去する工程、（ハ）該表層部を除去した磁性層の領域を反応性プラズマもしくは反応性イオンに曝す工程、（ニ）磁性層に不活性ガスを照射する工程を行う。得られる磁気記録媒体は、磁性層表面の酸化またはハロゲン化が原因で腐食を生じることがない。
