Abstract

Provided are an airbag in which, without the use of tear seams, an on/off vent hole is closed or slightly opened in the initial stage of inflation of the airbag and the on/off vent hole is opened or largely opened when generation of gas from an inflator is reduced or stopped, and an airbag device. An inner bag (16) smaller in volume than the airbag (10) is installed in the airbag (10). A cover body (60) for covering the on/off vent hole (20) and the inner bag (16) is connected together by a tether (70). When the pressure in the inner bag (16) is higher than the pressure in the airbag (10) at the beginning of inflation of the airbag (10), the inner bag (16) is tensed because it is fully inflated. This prevents separation of the cover body (60) from the on/off vent hole (20) in cooperation with the tether (70). When the generation of the gas from the inflator (36) decreases or stops, the inner bag (16) becomes loose and the cover (60) separates from the on/off vent hole (20) to open the on/off vent hole (20).
