Abstract
Operation efficiency is enhanced through simple configuration and control by supplying only a required quantity of steam to a steam engine when an air compressor is driven using a steam engine. An air compressor (3) is driven by a steam engine (2) generating power using steam. For the steam engine (2), steam is supplied through a steam supply path (8) and discharged through a steam discharge path (11). Steam from the steam engine (2) is supplied through a steam header (12) to steam-using devices. The load of the steam used is monitored by a pressure sensor (16) provided in the steam header (12). Compressed air from the air compressor (3) is supplied to compressed-air-using devices through a compressed air passage (17). The load of the compressed air used is monitored by a pressure sensor (18) provided in the compressed air passage (17). Steam supply to the steam engine (2) is controlled based on the load of the steam used and the load of the compressed air used.
