Abstract
A magnetic recording medium that can realize an enhancement of thermal disturbance resistance and can ensure a high magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic recording medium (1) comprises a disk-shaped substrate (2) and, arranged perpendicularly thereto, multiple columnar magnetic substance grains (3). The multiple magnetic substance grains (3) have a hexagonal arrangement. A nonmagnetic element, such as void or a surfactant, is provided between individual magnetic substance grains (3), so that the individual magnetic substance grains (3) are separated from each other by the nonmagnetic element.
