Abstract
It is possible to capture a still image of an accurate collision moment of a moving body which rapidly changes its velocity and direction with a high resolution. For this, provided is an imaging device including: an imaging element having a low-resolution mode and a high-resolution mode; object extraction means which extracts for each frame, a plurality of predetermined object images from a dynamic image of a low resolution outputted in the low-resolution mode by the imaging element; motion vector calculation means which calculates a motion vector of an image extracted by the object extraction means; positional relationship calculation means which calculates a positional relationship between the images extracted by the object extraction means; timing prediction means which predicts the time when the predetermined object images are at a predetermined positional relationship according to the calculated motion vector and the positional relationship; resolution control means which switches the imaging element to the high-resolution mode so that the imaging element can capture a still image with a high resolution at the predicted time; and imaging control means which causes the imaging element to capture a still image with a high resolution at the predicted time.
