Abstract

A process for the epoxidation of a crude polyene, which process comprises the reaction of a mixture of unsaturated hydrocarbons which comprises one or more compounds selected from (especially polycyclic) polyenes and (co) oligomers thereof in a total concentration of from about 20 % to about 95 % by weight with aqueous hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a polyoxometallate-based catalytic system.
