Abstract

Functional batting gloves of the invention has a glove body composed of the back of the hand where the user's hand is put therein and corresponds to the topside of the hand, a palm corresponding to the palm side, and knuckle portions corresponding to the knuckles, a wrist band that is connected to an end of the glove body to protect the user's wrist, and cushions that are provided to the palm and the knuckle portions, divided and spaced from each other, and protrude to the outside. According to this configuration, cushion members are divided into the knuckle portions, palm, the fixed end of the thumb, and hand knife and formed of elastic members, such that it allows a user to easily hold a bat and prevent an injury of the user by distributing and absorbing an external shock.

Description

BATTING GLOVES FOR SLUGGER

Technical Field

[I] The present invention relates to functional batting gloves, particularly functional batting gloves that prevent a batter from being injured or loosing hold of a bat while the batter is batting with a bat in his hands in a baseball game, and has an improved configuration to provide different cushions according to the way the batter holds his grip on the bat.

Background Art [2] In general, athletes wear gloves when playing sports, such as baseball, golf, and ice hockey, to prevent an injury or the sporting goods from sliding out of the hands. [3] When playing baseball in these sports, batters hit a ball with a bat, and most batters bat with batting gloves on their hands to prevent the bat from sliding out of his hands and protect the palm from tearing by the shock transmitted in batting. [4] Baseball bats in the related art, as shown in FIG. 1, have a handle 12 that is formed to have a smaller diameter at the lower portion than the middle portion for a user to easily grip, and a knob 14 that is stepped at the end of the handle 12. [5] Further, batters grip the handle of the bat in different ways according to single hitters and long hitters as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. A right-handed hitter is exemplified hereafter. [6] A batting glove 20 according to the related art is composed of a glove body 22 in which the entire hand is put therein and a wrist band 24 that is connected to an end of the glove body 22 to prevent the glove body 22 from being taken off the hand and protect the wrist. [7] The wrist band 24 is formed of an elastic rubber band and Velcro fasteners are sewn at both ends of the wrist band 24 for the user to easily put on or take off the glove. [8] The glove body 22 is composed of the back of the hand 25 at the outside, the palm 21 at the inside, and the knuckle portions 23 corresponding to the knuckles. [9] The batting glove 20 according to the related art is made of thin natural leather or synthetic leather. [10] However, since the batting glove 20 according to the related art is made of thin leather, it has a problem in that vibration or an external shock due to a ball hitting the bat is transmitted to the hitter's hands.

[I I] In particular, when a ball thrown by a pitcher hits a portion adjacent to the handle of the bat, not the center portion of the bat, the majority of the shock is transmitted to the thumb of the hitter's right hand (right-handed hitter), which is closest to the shock origin where the ball hits, thereby causing an injury, such as arthritis. [12] Meanwhile, long hitters called 'sluggers' hold the handle with the left little finger surrounding the outer circumference of the knob at the lower end of the handle to increase the turning force of the bat, whereas single hitters holds the bat with the lower side of the left little finger on the stepped portion of the knob. [13] Accordingly, in spite of the difference in the way the batters hold the, there is a problem in that gloves in the related art are made without considering the way the bat is gripped according to the hitters. [14] That is, according to the way the handle 12 of the bat is gripped by the hitters, for single hitters, the left little finger hits the knob of the bat, but for long hitters, the ring finger hits the knob of the bat. [15] On the other hand, because batters hold the handle 12 of the bat loosely, not tight, the bat may slip out of the hands when the batters swing the bat.

Disclosure of Invention

Technical Problem [16] Accordingly, the present invention is designed to solve the problems above and an object of the invention is to provide functional batting gloves that have an improved configuration that functions as a cushion preventing an injury due to a shock caused when a hitter hits a ball with a bat and prevents the bat from slipping out of the hands. [17] Further, another object of the invention is to provide functional batting gloves having different configurations to prevent a shock and slipping of the bat according to the way a batter grips the handle of the bat.

Technical Solution [18] In order to achieve the objects of the invention, batting gloves according to the invention has a glove body in which the entire hand is put and a wrist band that is connected to an end of the glove body and prevents the glove body from sliding out of the hand while protecting the wrist, in which cushions that protrude outside from the inside of the glove body are divided and spaced apart from each other. [19] Further, preferably, the cushions are formed at portions corresponding to the knuckles and formed of elastic members. [20] Further, the cushions of the invention have first cushion members that are divided into a plurality of pieces at the palm side of the glove body, and a plurality of second cushion members that are spaced apart from the first cushion members and are formed at each of the knuckles of the glove body. [21] The first cushion members are formed on the inside of the glove body that corresponds to a space between the forefinger and the ring finger. [22] Further, the cushions have at least one third cushion member that is formed on the glove body at a portion corresponding to the hand knife.

[23] Preferably, the cushions have fourth cushion members that are formed on the glove body at a portion corresponding to the fixed end of the thumb.

Advantageous Effects

[24] The prevent invention relates to functional batting gloves that prevent hitters from being injured and a bat from sliding out of the hands when the hitter holds and swings the bat, and configured with cushions in respect to the way a hitter grips the bat.

According to the gloves, cushion members are divided into knuckle portions, palm, the fixed end of the thumb, and hand knife and formed of elastic members, such that it allows a user to easily hold a bat while preventing an injury to the user by distributing and absorbing an external shock. [25] Further, according to the way the bat is gripped by a user, a hitter, that is, the glove has different configurations according to long hitters and single hitters in consideration of parts to be injured according to characteristics of the hitters, such that the user can easily hold the bat while preventing injury.

[43] Referring to FIGS. 4 to 15, the functional batting glove 20 according to the invention has a glove body 22 composed of the back of the hand 25 where the user's hand is put therein and corresponds to the topside of the hand, the palm 21 corresponding to the palm side, and the knuckle portions 23 corresponding to the knuckles, the wrist band 24 that is connected to an end of the glove body 22 to protect the user's wrist, and cushions 100 that are provided at the palm 21 and the knuckle portions 23 of the glove body 22, divided and spaced from each other, and protrude to the outside.

[44] To be more detailed, the cushions 100 have cushion members that integrally protrude from the palm 21 and the knuckle portions 23 on the inside of the glove body 22 and the cushion members may be embedded in the inner cover or bonded to the outer cover of the glove body 22.

[45] The cushion member of the cushions 100 is preferably formed of an elastic member that can distribute or absorb an external shock, and for example, (compressed) sponge, rubber, or urethane is preferred, but it is not limited thereto.

[46] Further, the wrist band 24 has the same configurations as those that have been known in the art and not described herein.

[47] Hereafter, various types of cushions 100 used depending on the user's left and right hands and differences in the way the handle is gripped will be described for each embodiment.

[48] First Embodiment

[49] A first embodiment of the functional batting glove 20 according to the invention is a batting glove 20 put on the right hand of a user who is a right-handed hitter, of which the cushion 100 includes first cushion members 110 that are divided into a plurality of pieces protruding outside from the palm 21 of the glove body 22, second cushion members 120 that protrude from the inside of the knuckles 23 spaced from the first cushion members 110 and are divided to correspond to the knuckles 23 of each finger, and fourth cushion members 140 that are formed on the inside of the palm 21, which corresponds to the fixed end of the thumb of the user, and spaced from the first cushion members 110 formed at the palm 21.

[50] The fourth cushion members 140 are divided to the left and right sides from the thumb to allow a hitter to easily hold the outer circumference of a bat 10.

[51] That is, the first, second, and fourth cushions each have a plurality of cushion members that are spaced apart on the palm 21 and the knuckle portions 23 to allow the hitter to easily hold the handle of the bat 10.

[52] Second Embodiment

[53] A second embodiment of the functional batting glove 20 according to the invention is a batting glove 20 put on the left hand when a user who is a right-handed single hitter, in which it has the same configuration as the first embodiment in that the first and second cushion members are formed on the palm 21 and the knuckle portions 23, but it further has third cushion members 130 that protrude outside from the hand knife of the palm 21.

[54] The third cushion members 130 are formed at the hand knife that interfaces the palm

21 and the back of the hand 25 of the glove body 22, to be interposed between the portion of the user's left hand, which contacts the knob 14 of the bat 10, and the knob 14.

[55] In this configuration, the fourth cushion members 140 may be optionally removed by user's preference.

[56] Third Embodiment

[57] A third embodiment of the functional batting glove 20 of the invention is a batting glove 20 put on the left hand of a user who is a right-handed long hitter and has the same configuration as the first embodiment, but the first cushions members 110 are formed in a space having a width from the user's forefinger to the ring finger when the user holds the bat 10 and a space having a width corresponding to the user's little finger, in order for the user to be able to surround the knob 14 of the bat 10 with the little finger.

[58] That is, ends of the first cushion members 100 are arranged in a line with the forefinger of the user's fingers and the other ends are arranged in a line with the user's ring finger, such that stepped portions 112 are formed at the other ends to be locked with the knob 14 of the bat 10.

[59] The first, second, and third embodiments described herein may modify the shape of the first, second, third, and fourth cushion members 110, 120, 130, 140, which depends on the user's left and right hands and the way of gripping the handle.

[60] The functions of each embodiment of the invention having the above configurations are described hereafter.

[61] The batting glove 20 having the configuration of the first embodiment is used to hold the handle 12 that is slightly spaced from the lower end of the knob 14 of the bat 10, such that it is put on the right hand of a right-handed hitter and can be applied to all of a single hitter and a long hitter.

[62] When a user is a right-handed single hitter, it is preferable to put on the batting glove

20 of the second embodiment on the hitter's left hand, in which the first cushion members 110 are positioned between the palm 21 and the outer circumference of the bat 10, surrounding the outer circumference of the handle 12 of the bat 10 when the hitter holds the handle, and the second cushion members 120 are positioned between the knuckle portions 23 and the handle 12 of the bat 10 when the hitter holds the handle.

[63] Further, since the third cushion members 130 are positioned between the left little finger and the knob 14 of the bat 10, they prevent a shock from being transmitted by hit of the left little finger to the stepped portion of the knob 14 when the hitter swings the bat 10.

[64] On the other hand, when a user is a right-handed long hitter, it is preferable to put on the batting glove 20 of the third embodiment on the hitter's left hand, in which the first cushion members 110 surround the outer circumference of the handle 12 of the bat 10, as much as the width from the forefinger to the ring finger, and the stepped portions 112 of the first cushion members 110 are locked with the knob 14 of the bat 10.

[65] That is, when a long hitter who grips the handle with the little finger surrounding the knob 14 and swings the bat 10, the knob 14 of the bat 10 is locked with the stepped portions 112 of the first cushion members 110, such that it is possible to prevent the bat 10 from sliding out of the glove body 22.

[66] Further, when a user is a left-handed hitter, he can put on and use a batting glove 20 having opposite configurations to the embodiments described above.

Claims

[1] A batting gloves for slugger having a glove body and a wrist band connected to an end of the glove body, comprising: cushions that protrude outside from the inside of the glove body and are each divided and spaced apart from each other, wherein the cushions have first cushion members that are divided into a plurality of pieces at the palm side inside of the glove body, formed in a space corresponding to a portion from the forefinger to the ring finger, and have stepped portions that are locked with a knob of a bat, and a plurality of second cushion members that is spaced apart from the first cushion members and are formed on each of the knuckle of the glove body.

[2] The batting gloves for slugger according to claim 1, wherein the cushions has fourth cushion members formed at a portion corresponding to the fixed end of the thumb on the glove body.
