Abstract

Two polyoxymethylene (POM) polymers (A) and (B) are prepared. The POM polymer (A) before spinning has a melt index (MIA) (g/10 min) (conditions: 190°C; load, 21.18 N) which satisfies 30<MIA. The POM polymers (A) and (B) before spinning respectively have melting peak temperatures (TA) and (TB) which satisfy TB>TA+10. A first ingredient comprising the POM polymer (A) and a second ingredient comprising the POM polymer (B) are subjected to composite spinning so that the first ingredient is exposed in a length which is at least 20% of the length of the fiber periphery. Thereafter, the spun composite fiber is stretched and then annealed at 60-110°C to produce a POM/POM type heat-bondable composite fiber.
