Abstract
チタン化合物を還元して金属チタンを製造するために用いる金属カルシウムを製造する方法および装置であって、特に溶融塩電解により製造された金属カルシウムから純度の高い金属カルシウムを効率よく製造できる方法および装置を提供する。金属カルシウムによるチタン化合物の還元工程で副生した塩化カルシウムを溶融塩電解して金属カルシウムを製造する工程と、溶融塩電解して製造された金属カルシウムを用いて金属チタンを製造する工程との間に金属カルシウムの分離精製工程を設け、分離精製工程においては、溶融塩電解により陰極に析出した金属カルシウムと電解浴から構成された固体析出物を溶解分離槽にて溶解して溶融金属カルシウムと電解浴の二相分離状態とし、この二相分離状態を保持しつつ、金属カルシウムのみを精製槽に溢流させることを特徴とする高純度金属カルシウムの製造方法。
