Abstract
従来の撮像装置は、交換レンズの焦点距離によって焦点検出用光電変換部に投影される射出瞳位置が異なるため、瞳分割の対称性が大きく崩れてしまうという問題があった。本発明では、マイクロレンズを有する画素がマトリクス状に配置された有効画素領域の一部に少なくとも1つのフォーカスエリアを有する固体撮像素子であって、フォーカスエリア内の画素には、マイクロレンズと焦点検出用光電変換部とが所定のずらし量で相対的にずらされて配置され、フォーカスエリアは、ずらし量が異なる複数の画素で構成するようにし、この固体撮像素子を用いた撮像装置は、複数の焦点検出用光電変換部の中から瞳分割が最も対称に近い焦点検出用光電変換部を選択して焦点制御を行うようにした。これにより、対称性の良い瞳分割を行うことができ、製造誤差に依らず、様々な射出瞳位置のレンズにも対応した精度の高い焦点検出が可能になる。
