Abstract

An optical communication system including a transmitter having a plurality of light emitting devices and a receiver having a plurality of light receiving devices. The transmitter comprises a serial/parallel conversion unit which performs serial/parallel conversion of data and outputs the plurality of parallel data, a modulation unit which modulates the plurality of parallel data and outputs a plurality of first signals, and an IDFT unit which performs an inverse discrete fourier transformation of the plurality of first signals and derives a plurality of second signals corresponding to light emission intensity of the plurality of light emitting devices. The receiver comprises a DFT unit which performs a discrete fourier transformation of a plurality of third signals outputted according to an amount of light received by the plurality of light receiving devices and derives a plurality of fourth signals, a demodulation unit which demodulates the plurality of fourth signals and detects the plurality of parallel data, and a parallel/serial conversion unit which performs parallel/serial conversion of the plurality of parallel data and restores the data.
