Abstract

A determination method for determining whether a mobile information terminal moves into or out of a particular area in a communication network system including RFID tags disposed within or outside the particular area, the mobile information terminal that has an RFID reader for wireless communicating with the RFID tags, a management apparatus that communicates with the mobile information terminal, and an RFID database connected to the management apparatus via the communication network. The determination method comprises acquiring, at the RFID reader, identification information of the RFID tags therefrom; transmitting the identification information from the mobile information terminal to the management apparatus; acquiring, at the management apparatus, based on the identification information, positional information stored in the RFID database and indicative of the positions at which the RFID tags are disposed; acquiring, at the management apparatus, a field intensity of the mobile information terminal determined thereby; and determining, at the management apparatus, based on the positional information and a change in the field intensity, whether the mobile information terminal moves into or out of the particular area.
