Cuコアと、このCuコアを被覆するようにして形成された炭素被覆層とを含むナノワイヤを具え、このナノワイヤが室温において酸素ガスに対して脱吸着作用を呈し、前記酸素ガスの前記脱吸着作用を通じて前記酸素ガスを検出するようにして、酸素ガス検出素子を構成する。
