Abstract

 スケーラブルに信号帯域が変化する場合においても、電力効率の低下を改善しつつ、信号帯域が変化する信号を増幅することができる電力増幅器。この電力増幅器(100)は、それぞれ増幅可能な周波数帯域が異なりかつ増幅可能な周波数帯域が広いものほど電力効率が悪い、複数の振幅増幅器(104),(105)を備え、制御部(101)は、システム側から事前に通知されるベースバンド信号の帯域情報を基に、包絡線信号の信号帯域を推定し、複数の振幅増幅器(104),(105)のうちから、推定した包絡線信号の信号帯域を増幅可能な振幅増幅器を選択すると共に、選択した増幅器の中で増幅可能な周波数帯域が最も低い振幅増幅器をさらに選択して、包絡線信号の信号帯域が切り変わるタイミングで、選択した振幅増幅器に包絡線信号を供給する。
