Abstract
Apparatus (100) for active radio frequency identification using an IPv4 address format for unique addressing of an active radio frequency identification tag transponder (102), which apparatus (100) comprises: (i) at least one active radio frequency identification tag transponder (102) having data storage means for holding an IPv4 format unique identification; (ii) electronic control means (118) for processing data for transportation means compatible with the IPv4 address format; (iii) a transceiver (116) capable of providing data communication by a LR-WPAN defined wireless network (106); (iv) a reader (104) for sending data to and for receiving data from the active radio frequency identification tag transponder (102); and (v) output means for connecting the reader (104) to external means for receiving and transmitting the data to external sources.
