Abstract

　ブラックマトリクス１４及びカラーフィルタ層１５を有するカラーフィルタ基板１０と、画素電極部２２を有する画素電極基板２０との間に、垂直配向型の液晶分子を含有してなる液晶層３０が配置された液晶表示装置として、カラーフィルタ基板１０において線状に延びるように設けられるブラックマトリクス１４の少なくとも一部の線状部分を、画素電極基板２０側に向かって突出しかつ該少なくとも一部の線状部分に沿って線状に延びるように形成された突起構造物１６を有するものとする。
