Abstract

Neural stem cells are differentiated to form neurons using a medium containing a combination of a neurotrophin, an FGF receptor agonist and a glial differentiation inhibitor. Neural stem cells are preconditioned prior to transplantation so that the preconditioned cells have a marker profile which is nestin negative, Tuj1 positive, doublecortin positive, N-CAM positive, ki67 negative and phosphohistone (3) negative.
