Abstract

A preform (1) has a shape which is essentially cylindrical over its entire length and has a pouring-out opening (11) at the top and a curved, closed end (4) at the bottom. In the pouring-out region above a supporting ring (15), or up to the height of the supporting ring (15), the internal diameter (A) is initially large, this then being followed by a region of smaller internal diameter (B). A shoulder (102) is thus produced in the transition region, and this defines a bearing surface (19). The region of larger diameter (A) forms an accommodating chamber (100), in which a capsule (200) is accommodated. A preform (1) of the abovementioned type can be used to blow-mould a corresponding bottle (2) which has the same configuration in the region of the pouring-out opening to just beneath the supporting ring (15). By virtue of the bottle neck configured according to the invention, capsules or cartridges which may even have a relatively large volume can be accommodated in the bottle neck.

Description

Rohling sowie daraus gefertigte Flasche aus PET Blank and bottle made from PET
The present invention relates to a cylindrical blank with a spherically curved, closed lower end and a pouring opening at the upper end for producing a blown bottle made of PET with a bottle neck and a molded support ring. The invention further comprises a bottle made from the blank according to the invention and a cartridge for inclusion in such a bottle.
It has been known for many years to attach capsules or cartridges to a bottle neck. FR-A-1434918 already shows such a solution in which a cartridge made of aluminum is attached to a bottle neck, the collar projecting beyond the edge of the bottle neck being attached to the outside of the bottle neck. In the present example it is a yogurt glass, in which the cartridge or capsule contains a flavoring that can be added to the yogurt. Pressing the capsule releases the contents of the capsule into the bottle, after which the capsule itself is removed.
In a completely similar way, bottles are also provided with capsules, in which a tablet is accommodated, which dissolves in a liquid in the bottle. The tablet is dispensed onto the bottle by pressure on the capsule and then the capsule held on the bottle neck is removed. Examples of such solutions are known from GB-A-1211168 and WO 99/37553. However, such solutions have not become established on the market. They were considered to be insufficiently user-friendly in relation to the manufacturing effort.
The latter solution again provided for the attachment of a capsule on a container neck and a screw cap was attached above it, which was provided with a pivotable ejector with which the capsule could be pressed out. After the capsule was emptied, the cap had to be removed, the emptied capsule pulled off the bottle neck, after which the resulting solution was only freely accessible.
Ein typisches Beispiel einer solchen Lösung zeigt Beispiels Weise die US-B-6230884.A remedy was only created after closures came onto the market, which not only help to squeeze out the capsule, but which at the same time, without removing the destroyed capsule, guarantee free access to the contents without removing capsule residues Need to become. A typical example of such a solution is shown, for example, in US-B-6230884.
A similarly designed solution is already known from WO98 / 40289. However, here the capsule was placed in the closure itself. The closure has a mechanism that allows the capsule to be pierced. Logistically, this requires the capsules to be filled into the cap and kept in it before they are delivered to a bottling plant. For hygienic and logistical reasons, this is hardly practical.
While US-B-6230884 shows a capsule with a flat film which rests on the bottle neck while the tablet housed in the capsule lies above it and is provided with a corresponding blister-like cover, systems in which the capsule is also known from older documents or cartridge is designed in such a way that the lower film lying on the bottle neck is curved into the bottle neck and the active substance is thus in this area below the edge of the bottle neck.
If you design the capsule as first mentioned, by placing the active ingredient or tablet practically above the bottle neck or in the closure itself, this automatically results in extremely high and bulky closures, in particular because Piercing element must be integrated, which must travel a corresponding way to pierce the capsule. As a result, such closures become extremely high and the amount of admixtures to be dispensed remains very limited.
If you try to solve this problem by making the capsule bulge into the bottle neck, the capsule must be sufficiently strong for this purpose and at the same time held firmly on the edge of the bottle neck to ensure that the capsule itself does not fit into the bottle neck Bottleneck falls into it, possibly even without releasing the content. The edge of the bottle neck is usually of a relatively small thickness, so that the fastening area is correspondingly small.
The present invention has therefore set itself the task of creating a blank, or a bottle made from such a blank, which can hold a capsule or cartridge with a large usable volume, without the construction of the closure by means of which the cartridge or Capsule is opened, has an oversized height.
This object is achieved by a blank of the type mentioned at the outset, which is characterized by the characterizing features of patent claim 1. More preferred Embodiments of this blank emerge from the dependent patent claims 2 to 11.
A bottle according to the invention can be manufactured from a blank according to at least one of claims 1 to 11.
A cartridge or capsule which is suitable for use with a bottle which is made from a blank according to one of claims 1 to 11 is disclosed in claim 13.
Es zeigt:The drawing shows preferred exemplary embodiments of the blank or the bottle made therefrom, and a cartridge designed according to the invention. It shows:
Figur 1 einen erfindungsgemässen Rohling mit darin eingelegter Kapsel oder Patrone und1 shows a blank according to the invention with a capsule or cartridge inserted therein
Figur 2 den oberen Teil einer aus dem Rohling gemässFigure 2 shows the upper part of a from the blank
Figure 3 shows a second embodiment of a blank again in a vertical axial section and FIG. 4 in turn shows the upper area of a bottle made from the blank according to FIG. 3, shown in an axial partial section.
The blank is designated 1 overall. The blank 1 essentially consists of a cylindrical wall 3 with a curved, closed lower end 4. The fully formed fastening area 5 is attached to the upper end of the cylindrical wall 3. An external thread 6 is usually formed in this area. Below the thread 6, the blank has a support ring 15. The support ring 15 serves to hold and support the blank in a bottle blowing machine. The blank is usually made of PET. The blanks are manufactured in an injection molding machine and only come to a blow molding machine later.
Above the support ring 15 anti-twist molding 23 can be provided. In the example shown here, according to FIG. 1, the anti-twist molding means consists of a ring of saw teeth, which comes in a form-fitting connection with a closure to be attached later. The fully formed fastening area 5 consists of a cylindrical pouring wall 7 to which the external thread 6 is attached.
The entire area above the support ring 15 is referred to here as the upper bottle neck area 13, during the the area below it is referred to as the lower bottle neck area 14. Only then on the lower bottle neck region 14, which also forms the shoulder of the bottle, does the bulbous receiving space of the bottle follow, which is indicated here by 25. As usual, the receiving area of the bottle can be cylindrical or different. The actual receiving area of the bottle and the design of the bottle base are insignificant for the invention and its design is therefore not discussed. As already mentioned, the design of the bottle from the lower bottle neck region 14 via the shoulder 18 is no longer of interest.
Die eigentliche Erfindung besteht darin, dass der Innendurchmesser A des Flaschenhalses im oberen, offenenThe actual invention is that the inner diameter A of the bottle neck in the upper, open
Der obereThe area of the pouring opening 10 is larger than the lower bottle neck area directly adjoining it. The upper
Bottle neck area, which is already designed for the blank and includes the fastening area 5, has a pouring opening 11 which is delimited by an edge 12. The pouring opening is formed by the pouring wall 7.
Diese Ausgusswand 7 ist zylindrisch und weist einenThis pouring wall 7 is cylindrical and has one
Innendurchmesser A auf. At the lower end of the infusion wall 7, a support surface 19 is formed. This support surface 19 lies in a plane 24. Below the support surface 19 follows the lower bottle neck region 14. The upper and the lower
Bottle neck area 13 and 14 together form the Bottle neck 10. While the upper bottle neck area 13 is already designed as a blank in its definitive shape, the shape of the lower bottle neck area 14 below the support ring 15 is changed during the blowing process. Only after the blowing process is the bottle shoulder 18 and the receiving space 25 in the definitive form. Directly below the support surface 19, the inner diameter of the lower bottle neck region, which is designated by B, is significantly smaller than the inner diameter A, which corresponds to the inner diameter of the pouring opening 11. This creates a capsule or cartridge receiving space 100. The capsule receiving space 100 can be cylindrical overall or can have a polygonal prismatic shape if it is desired that this creates a space in which a capsule or cartridge is to be kept non-rotatably oriented. The inner surface of the pouring wall 7 can also have a longitudinal rib in order to realize an exactly oriented insert of a capsule. Such an orientation rib is designated 101.
While the blank according to the embodiment of FIG. 1 has a constant outside diameter practically over the entire length, FIG. 3 shows an alternative in which the outside diameter A 'of the blank 1 above the support ring 15 is larger than the outside diameter C of the cylindrical part of the blank 1 below the support ring 15. Also in this case Shape of the blank, from the area of the support ring upwards, like the shape of the finished blown bottle in this area.
While the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has no constriction externally over the entire bottle neck region 10, this is probably the case with the embodiments according to FIGS. 3 and 4. The explanations according to FIGS. 3 and 4 are intended to show that the receiving space 100 can be of practically any size, depending on the volume requirement of the capsule or cartridge to be inserted therein.
Im Uebergangsbereich des kleineren Innendurchmessers B des Rohlings und dem grosseren Innendurchmesser A im Bereich derIn the transition area of the smaller inner diameter B of the blank and the larger inner diameter A in the area of

Paragraph 102 consequently forms a support surface 19 on which a capsule or a cartridge to be inserted lies flat.
Dieser Absatz 102, der wie erwähnt die Auflagefläche 19 bildet, kann oberhalb der durch den Stützring 15 definierteThis shoulder 102, which, as mentioned, forms the bearing surface 19, can be above the one defined by the support ring 15

The area of the support ring 15, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, and ultimately an arrangement would also be conceivable in which the support surface 19 extends below the plane in which the support ring 15 lies. The transition 21 from the support surface 19 to the narrower bottle neck region is preferably designed with sharp edges. Likewise, according to the embodiment in FIGS. 1 and 2, the transition 20 from the support surface 19 to the further bottle neck region, that is to say the transition from the support surface 19 to the inner surface of the pouring wall 7, has a sharp-edged design. The design of these transitions essentially depends on the choice of the capsules or cartridges to be inserted into the receiving space 100. Especially when using sharp-edged transitions, completely new cartridges or capsules can be used, as will be described later. However, if these transitions 20 21 are designed not to be sharp-edged but rather rounded, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, such a receiving space is particularly suitable for accommodating capsules which are centered in the receiving space 100 and which also slightly protrude into the narrower bottle neck area . The rounded design significantly reduces the risk of injury to the capsule, which is made, for example, of foils.
In principle, the design of a bottle according to the invention automatically results from the use of the blank 1 according to the invention. The features essential for the invention are not changed by the blowing process. While previous solutions have required an adaptation of the cartridge or capsule to the edge of the pouring opening 12, the diameter of the capsule or cartridge and the contact surface thereof are now adapted to the inside diameter A in the region of the pouring wall 7 and also adapted to the contact surface 19 so as to accommodate them exactly of such a capsule, which is shown schematically in FIG. 1 and is designated by 200. As already mentioned, specially designed capsules or cartridges 200 can also be inserted into the particularly large receiving space 100, which capsules are adapted precisely to this. Such a cartridge can, for example, also consist essentially of a tube section with an upper and lower welded-on membrane. This allows an optimal use of the receiving space 100. Other forms of the capsule are of course also possible, but this is not the subject of the present invention. It is only essential that the capsule is adapted accordingly to the receiving space 100 which is formed according to the invention.
