Abstract
The invention relates to a transmission for a motor vehicle, comprising parallel shafts, including: a main input shaft (4) and an auxiliary input shaft (22) which are each connected to the vehicle engine by means of a clutch device (3) and an output shaft (7) which is provided with a drive pinion (8) that engages with a differential ring gear (9). According to the invention, one of the shafts (12) of the transmission is equipped with a pair of reduction pinions (57-58) which are solidly connected to one another. One (57) of the reduction pinions engages with a pinion of the main input shaft (4), while the other (58) reduction pinion engages with a pinion (25) of the auxiliary input shaft (22) with different gear ratios. The pair of reduction pinions is mounted to a countershaft (12) which is not coaxial with the output shaft (7).
