Abstract

The invention concerns a coupling device between a gearbox shaft (3) and an idle pinion (7) borne thereby comprising a hub (8) fixed on the shaft (3), coupling means for friction equalizing the shaft and the pinion speeds and for transforming the rotational movement received from the hub into an axial thrust on the pinion, so that they transmit by friction the torque between the hub and the pinion, said means comprising, a multiple-cone synchronization which includes an upper ring (9) secured to the hub, an intermediate ring (11) secured to the pinion, and an inactivating spring (16) acting on the upper ring (9) by pushing it back towards the hub (8) spaced apart from the other rings. The invention is characterized in that the upper ring (9) is provided in its inner peripheral part with teeth (9a) having assist ramps (9r) transforming the hub torque into an axial thrust on the other rings, and lugs (9b) axially offset outwards relative to the teeth (9a) so as to define a support position of the coupling means against the inactive hub.
