Abstract

An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system is described which is operable in the docked mode or in the portable mode. In the undocked mode a portable ultrasound system is operated by means of its own user interface and flat panel display. In the docked mode the portable ultrasound system is docked with a docking station and the flat panel display of the portable system provides the docked system display. The docking station resembles a typical cart-borne ultrasound system with a base unit and a control panel. The portable ultrasound system provides the display of the cart-borne system when docked.
