Abstract

The invention refers to equipment for suppression of odors in bathrooms, comprising a T-shaped tube (1), a sphere valve (3), a flexible duct or hose (4), interconnected with an enclosure (5) wherein is housed an electric motor (7), and a fan means (8). For closed bathrooms not provided with exhaust means, there is used within the enclosure a screen (10) that is wetted by a liquid purifier and freshener supplied thereinto through a cover (11) until reaching a level mark provided on the sidewall of the enclosure and is withdrawn through an aperture closed by a plug (12).

¹A DEVICE TO SUPPRESS ODORS IN BATHROOMS'

Technical Field

[I] The object of the instant patent application consists in the provision of a device to suppress odors in bathrooms provided with toilets or urinals. The device is installed in the discharge piping, between the water valve and the toilet or urinal, coupled thereto by means of a 'T' shaped fitting whereby the air within the toilet or the urinal is extracted by a suction means through the water passage orifice.

Disclosure of Invention

Technical Problem

[2] The current bathrooms are impregnated with the odors of feces and urine due to the provision therein of a mere conventional environment ventilation system.

Technical Solution

[3] In light of such problem, the device, on extracting by suction the air from within the toilet or the urinal, avoids spreading of the odor about the environment and outside the bathroom, or in the case of a closed bathroom, the air will be forced to pass through a purifier enclosure equipped with a screen immersed in a liquid disinfectant which purifies the air and provides a pleasant odor within the bathroom environment.

Advantageous Effects

[4] The installation of the device in closed bathrooms, using the purifier enclosure, will allow the replacement of the screen and the liquid disinfectant at intervals or periods as might be deemed adequate by the user, depending on the greater or lesser usage of the bathroom facilities.

Description of Drawings

[5] The attached drawings show the arrangement of the device that is the object of the present invention, installed in a toilet and urinals.

Mode for Invention

[10] As illustrated in the above listed figures, the model of version no. 1 of the odor suppression device consists in a ¹T¹ shaped tube (1), 3 metallic hose clamps (2), a sphere valve (snorkel-type) (3), a flexible duct or hose (4), an enclosure (5), an electric power cable (6), an electric motor (7), a fan (8), a partition with orifices (9), a screen (10), a cover (11) and a plug (12).

II 1] The electric motor (7), upon being plugged to a power source (power utility outlet or battery) by means of the cable (6), drives the fan (8) to extract the air from within the toilet and make it flow across the sphere valve (3) in the open position by the action of the weight of the sphere within the valve, towards the outside environment.

[12] When the odor suppressing device is used in closed environments without exhaust means there is added to the system a screen (10) which will be immersed in the purifier and freshener liquid, the latter being refilled through the cover (11) until reaching the level mark provided on the sidewall of the enclosure, and being drained through the aperture closed by the plug (12).

[13] The operation of the odor suppression device in closed environments makes use of the screen (10) through which the air originating from the toilet or urinal, upon being extracted by the fan, will be forced to pass in the enclosure where the screen is immersed, will be wetted by the purifier and freshener liquid, and will pass into the bathroom environment upon being purified and freshened thereby.

[14] When the flush valve is operated, the water will pass normally through the piping until reaching the toilet, but will however be blocked by the sphere valve (3) while there is hydraulic pressure within the discharge piping (see Figure 3, detail b). Upon the hydraulic pressure being relieved the sphere valve (3) opens and allows free passage of air (see Figure 3, detail a).

[15] 1. For maintenance purposes, the screen (10) and the purifier and freshener liquid contained in the enclosure may be replaced periodically.

[16] The device for suppression of odors in bathrooms may be designed for small or large environments, to suit different requirements of the users of that type of equipment.

Claims[1] CLAIMS

1. A device for suppression of odors in bathrooms, comprised by a T-shaped tube (1) connected by means of three hose clamps (2) to a sphere valve (3), a flexible duct or hose (4) and also to an enclosure (5), comprising an electric motor (7), an electric power cable (6) (which may be activated by a switching means of either manual or automatic mechanical or automatic operation with a presence sensor) which drives a fan means (8), causing the passage of air through the orifices of a partition (9), characterized in that the enclosure (5) acts as an exhauster and in that with the same characteristic there may be added to this assembly a screen (10), thus embodying the invention to be used in closed bathrooms, where the screen (10) is immersed in a purifier and freshener solution that will be supplied through a cover (11) until reaching the level marked on the sidewall of the enclosure and will be drained by means of a plug (12).
