Description
BALL VALVE WITH ARRANGEMENT FOR SEPARATING SEALING SURFACES AND CORRESPONDING METHOD
This invention relates to the way of reduction of pressure of seals on a ball closing component and to the system for reduction of pressure of seals on the ball closing component. The invention is used during opening or closing of a ball valve, especially during starting the valve after a long time of standstill of the ball.
It is known, from description of an application of the invention P - 347255, the way of reduction of pressure of seals on the ball closing relying on retracting of holders from the ball; seals are located in these holders. This retracting takes place in the axis of gas flow and it is a result of supply, from outside, working medium, such as gas, most often compressed air or liquid. Preparing and supply of working medium takes place in the specially prepared for this purpose, additional system, made outside gas installation in which a valve is installed.
Such system is made of a set producing compressed medium, of supplying and distributional pipes and of devices separating and then supplying working medium to the body of the ball valve. Also holes, made in the body, connecting outer part of the system with working chambers made in the cavities, from the side of the ball closing component, among holders of packing rings and closing rings fastened to the body are parts of that system.
Realization of a known way require first shutting off gas flow and only then supply of a working medium to the ball closing component enabling reduction of
pressure of seals on the ball closing component by their axial retraction from the ball closing component. Supplying of medium requires building and connecting to the ball closing component the system, not related to the gas piping, as a result of which operating costs of the ball valve in the gas piping increase.
To eliminate the above mentioned inconvenience the way of reduction of pressure of seals on the ball closing component and the system for realization of that way were worked out. This invention allows for using of gas pressure which is in the gas piping, for reduction of the pressure of seals.
According to the invention, the way of reduction of pressure of seals on the ball closing component relying on supplying of working factor trough holes in the body to working chambers and then retracting of holders with packing rings from the ball closing component by reaction of pressure of working medium on holders characterised by that, gas from a gas piping to which the valve, which is to be started is fitted, is used as working medium. Working medium with working pressure of gas piping is supplied from a by-pass pipe, installed in gas piping. Then, working medium is supplied by two-way valve and by three-way pipe to holes in the body and then by this holes to working chambers. During putting out of holders the decreasing space behind the holders is vented.
The system is degassed by two-way valve after opening or closing of the valve.
The way is realised with the assumption that the total view of the surface of the holders on a plane parallel to vertical axis of the valve from the side of supplying of working medium, is larger than the total view of the surface of the holder on the plane from the other side.
According to the invention, the system for reduction of pressure of seals on the ball closing component contains pipes and holes in the body of the ball valve, connected with working chambers, made in the cavities from the side of the ball closing component among holders of packing rings and cover rings. The above
mentioned system is characterised by that it has got a by-pass pipe fitted to gas piping, to which the ball valve, which is to be started, is installed. Moreover, a bypass pipe is fitted between inlet and outlet side of the ball valve. There is the two- way valve installed in the by-pass pipe. The second two-way valve and the three- way pipe are connected to the above mentioned two-way valve.
The system has got pipes, which, by their endings, are placed in the above mentioned three-way tube coupling and, by their second endings connected to the holes in body.
The holes in the body are connected with working chambers. Summary view of the surface of the holder from the side of the working chamber on a plane parallel to vertical axis of the valve is larger from the summary view of the plane of the holder on that plane assigned from the second side of the holder.
The solution, according to the invention, makes the service of the valves better. The reduction of pressure of the seals on the valve causes reduction of turning moment, necessary for opening or closing the valve, which makes starting of the valve easier, even in case of a long stage of standstill. Moreover, reduction of servicing moment of the valve enables to use smaller gears at hand operated servicing or it enables to use weaker power drives, which in turn reduces costs of production of the ball closing component. It is also essential that easily accessible gas from gas piping is used as working medium.
Gas pressure causes forces counter reacting to forces, which also derive from working pressure of gas, and additionally, apart from springs press on seals. Thanks to the invention, seals may be relieved and after relief they are pressed on the ball only by force of springs or only partly by that force. It depends on the difference of pressure resulting from difference of views of plane of holder from the side of working chamber and the opposite side of the holder.
The object of the invention is shown by an example of the drawing on which fig. 1 presents the system in general view with the ball valve in section and fig. 2 an enlarged detail A from fig. 1.
In the way of reduction of pressure of seals on the ball closing component, according to the invention, gas from a gas piping is used as a working medium.
Working medium with gas piping working pressure is delivered from the by-pass pipe 1 installed in gas piping VS. By-pass piping 1 is installed between inlet side and outlet side of the ball valve F7, which is to be started. Then, working medium, by two-way valve 2 and three-way pipe 3 is delivered to holes 4 and next to working chambers 5 in the ball valve 17. As a result of action of pressure of working medium, holders 6 with packing rings K) are retracted from the ball closing component 13 in Δ section and strings JJ, are deflected. This causes relief of seal and in that way reduction of pressure of packing rings JJ) which enables opening or closing of the ball valve 17 by means of rotation of stem 12 and the ball closing component 13 installed to it. During the retraction of holders 6 decreasing spaces 19 behind the holder 6 are vented. This venting is by holes 15 connected to the atmosphere .The system is degassed by two-way valve 14 after closing or opening of a ball valve 17.
The system for realization of the above mentioned way is made of the by-pass pipe 1 installed to gas piping 16 on which the ball valve 17, which is to be started, is fitted.
The by-pass pipe 1 is installed between the inlet side and outlet side of the ball valve 17. On the by-pass 1 there is installed the two-way valve 2 from which second two-way valve 14 and three-way pipe 3 are led. Pipes 18 are installed to the three-way pipe 3 and by its second ends are led to holes 4 which are in the body of the ball valve 17.
The holes 4 are connected next with working chambers 5. The working chambers 5 are made in the captivities of the body of the ball valve F7 from the side of the ball
closing component 13 between holders 6 of packing rings H) and cover rings 7 screwed down to the body, by means of bolts 8. The holder 6 is sealed by rings 9 of type "O". The space 19 on the opposite side of the working chamber 5 is connected with the atmosphere by hole 15.
The system works only when the summary view of the surface Fl of the holder 6, from the side of the working chamber 5, on the plane parallel to vertical axis of the ball valve 17, is larger than the summary view of the surface F2 of the holder 6 on that plane at the other side of the holder 6 .
