Description

ROLL FOIL ASSEMBLY
The invention relates to an assembly with at least two roll foils , comprising a first foil of a first flexible material , which is to be arranged in a framework and which can be rolled up round a first roller shaft and unrolled in a determined first direction, and a second foil of a second flexible material which is to be arranged in the framework and which can be rolled up round a second roller shaft parallel to the first roller shaft and which can be unrolled in a determined second direction . An assembly is known from European patent application EP-A-0735229 wherein a first roller shaft, for instance with a foil of an opaque material, is arranged on the top side of a framework and wherein a second roller shaft, for instance with an insect-repelling mesh screen, is arranged on the underside of this framework, wherein the foils can be coupled to each other using end-laths . The known assembly is for instance suitable for use in a caravan for the purpose of partially darkening an open window and simultaneously closing off this window to insects . The known assembly is unsuitable for arranging two different foils simultaneously and fully in a framework.
There is for instance a need to arrange at least one foil fully in a framework and to simultaneously arrange a second foil at least partially in this framework in order to reduce an amount of incident sunlight and to simultaneously screen a room at least partially from direct incident light . The amount of sunlight incident through a glazing is reduced in that the light reflects from this glazing, wherein the degree of reflection depends on the angle of incidence of the light . It is known that the degree of reflection is greatest at an angle of incidence of 45 ° . Since the position of the sun is low during the winter months , the angle of incidence is on average smaller than 45 ° in the case of vertically placed window glass , and the reflective power of this window glass is consequently considerably lower than during the summer months .
It is an obj ect of the invention to provide an assembly with roll foils, by means of which a framework can be fully provided with a first foil of a material which filters incident light, and which can simultaneously be at least partially provided with a second foil of an opaque material for at least partially darkening this framework.
It is a further obj ect to provide such an assembly which can be mounted and operated in simple manner, which is reliable in use and requires no maintenance, or at least very little .
These obj ects are achieved with an assembly with at least two roll foils of the type specified in the preamble, wherein according to the invention the first and the second foil can be unrolled in the same direction .
Two foils which can be unrolled in the same direction can be arranged in simple manner on the same side in a framework. This provides particular advantages in the filtering of incident light in combination with partial darkening of the framework, since the foils required for this purpose can both be arranged on the top side of the framework.
In an embodiment of an assembly according to the invention the first and the second roller shaft are accommodated in a j oint housing .
An assembly according to the invention preferably comprises a third roller shaft for guiding the first foil .
An assembly comprising a third roller shaft makes it possible to place the first roller shaft with the first foil rolled thereon at some distance from the second roller shaft, and to guide the first foil over the third roller shaft in the immediate vicinity of the second roller shaft in a manner such that the first and second foil can as it were be unrolled over each other in the immediate vicinity of each other . Such an assembly can be accommodated in a housing of relatively small height, which is advantageous when it is mounted on the top side of a window frame because the space taken up in this window frame by such a housing is therefore minimal .
In an advantageous embodiment an assembly according to the invention comprises a first chain drive for driving the first roller shaft .
This latter embodiment preferably further comprises a third roller shaft for guiding the first foil, which is further adapted to guide a first chain for the first chain drive .
Such assemblies more preferably comprise a second chain drive for driving the second roller shaft .
In yet another embodiment an assembly according to the invention comprises respectively a first or a second tube motor for driving the first or the second roller shaft .
In one embodiment an assembly according to the invention is provided with at least one guide element for guiding at least one of the foils transversely of the roller shafts along a side of the framework. The guide element provides the advantage that the foil is guided along the relevant side of the framework when unrolled, and thus covers the surface bounded by this framework along this side .
At least one of the foils is for instance made up of a carrier layer and at least one layer applied thereto .
This carrier layer is for instance a polyester layer, the applied layer for instance substantially comprises aluminium.
In a preferred embodiment of an assembly according to the invention the first foil is adapted to reduce the amount of light incident through this foil, and the second foil is opaque .
The invention will be elucidated hereinbelow on the basis of exemplary embodiments , with reference to the drawings .
In the drawings
Fig . 1 shows a cut-away perspective top view of the left-hand part of an embodiment of a foil assembly according to the invention,
Fig . 2 is a cut-away perspective bottom view of the right-hand part of the foil assembly shown in fig . 1, and Fig . 3 is a right-hand side view of the roll foil assembly shown in fig . 2.
Corresponding components are designated in the figures with the same reference numerals .
Fig . 1 , 2 and 3 show a roll foil assembly 10 in a position corresponding to the position after mounting in the top part of a window frame, with for instance a protective foil 7 wound round a first, lower roller shaft 1 and provided with an end strip 8 (both shown in fig . 2 ) for filtering incident sunlight, and a darkening foil (not shown) wound round a second roller shaft 2. The first foil 7 and the second foil can be unrolled in the same direction, in this case downward, and can be guided along their sides by respectively a first U-profile 5 and a second U-profile 6 extending along the framework, transversely of roller shafts 1 , 2. The figure further shows at the end of first roller shaft 1 a first chain wheel 11 coupled fixedly to this roller shaft 1 and a third chain wheel 13 , coupled fixedly to third roller shaft 3 , for a first drive chain for driving the first roller shaft 1 and third roller shaft 3, as well as a second chain wheel 12 , coupled fixedly to second roller shaft 2, for a second drive chain for driving the second roller shaft 2. In the shown exemplary embodiment the second roller shaft 2 is driven by a second drive chain (not shown) which is guided over the second chain wheel on the left-hand end of the second roller shaft 2 , and the first roller shaft 1 and third roller shaft 3 are driven by a first drive chain 9 ( shown in fig . 2 and 3) which is guided over the first chain wheel 1 and third chain wheel 3 on the right-hand end of respectively the first roller shaft 1 and third roller shaft 3. It is noted that the application of the invention is described in respect of excluding sunlight from and darkening a space, for which purpose a roll foil assembly according to the invention is arranged in a vertically or obliquely placed window frame, but that application of the invention is in no way limited thereto . It is for instance possible to embody both foils in a material which is impermeable for visible and infrared light, and to apply a foil assembly with these foils in a horizontal framework as night closure for a freezer unit which is open during the day, for instance for storing food products and making these accessible to customers in a supermarket .
