Abstract
The present invention relates to a washer /dryer (1) , wherein the inner door (6) and the outer door (7) of which can be opened in such a way to prevent their hitting to each other.
Description
Description A WASHER/DRYER
[001] The present invention relates to a washer/dryer, the door of which can easily be opened by the user.
[002] In washer/dryers, especially in clothes washer/dryer machines, there's an inner door which covers the opening through which clothes are loaded into the drum and an outer door covering the said inner door. The outer door is utilized for improving the esthetic appearance of the washer/dryer. In washer/dryers where two doors are used, namely the inner and the outer door, the doors should be opened and closed during loading and unloading the laundry. Opening the inner and outer doors separately leads to a difficult usage.
[003] In the European Patent no. EP0681048, a top loading washing machine with a horizontal axis, having an outer door on the top surface of the washing machine and an inner door over the drum is described. As the outer door is opened by the user, the inner doors are respectively opened by the opening movement of the outer door.
[004] In the European Patent no. EP0608347, a front loading washing machine with a horizontal axis, having an outer door and an inner door on its front is described. The outer door is attached to the front panel by means of hinges on one side and with magnets on the other side. When the user wants to access the drum, she first opens the outer door by pulling the outer door towards herself, then the inner door lock mechanism is opened.
[005] The aim of the present invention is to design a washer/dryer, the inner and outer door of which can be opened easily by the user.
[006] The household appliance designed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the attached drawings, where:

[017] The washer/dryers (1), especially clothes washer/dryers, comprise a body (2), a panel (3) situated on the body (2) having display units, control units and the like on it, a control unit (4) enabling processes like controlling and operating, a loading opening (5) allowing the loading of clothes inside, an inner door (6) closing the loading opening (5) in a leak-proof way, an outer door (7) situated on the body (2) covering the inner door (6) and preventing direct access to the inner door (6), one or more inner door lock mechanisms (8), one or more outer door lock mechanisms (9), a door opening button (10) allowing the user to open the inner door lock mechanism (8) and/ or the outer door lock mechanism (9) and, an inner door key (11) onto which the outer door (7) presses, being in closed position when the outer door (7) is closed, opening while the outer door (7) is being opened because the pressure of the outer door (7) is lifted, and opening the inner door when the outer door (7) is opened without any additional procedures.
[018] The outer door lock mechanism (9) which is preferably electro-mechanical,
comprises an outer door lock hook (12) situated on the outer door (7), an outer door lock hook housing (13) into which the outer door lock hook (12) fits, an outer door lock latch (14) which fixes the outer door lock hook (12), an outer door lock spring (15) which lets the outer door lock hook (12) be displaced from the outer door lock hook housing (13), an outer door lock bobbin (16) which moves the outer door lock latch (14) when the door opening button (10) is pressed, an outer door lock bobbin spring (17) which provides the outer door lock latch (7) to resume its former position after the outer door (7) is opened, and an outer door lock bobbin housing (18) into which the outer door lock bobbin (16) is positioned.
[019] The inner door lock mechanism (8) which is preferably electro-mechanical, comprises an inner door lock hook (19) situated on the inner door (6) and an inner door hook housing (20) situated on the body (2) into which the inner door lock hook (19) is fitted.
[020] The inner door key (11) comprises a projection (21) which is pressed upon when the outer door (7) is closed and is inserted into the body (2) and an inner door key spring (22) that pushes the projection (21). The inner door key (11) is connected electrically in series to the inner door lock mechanism (8). When the inner door key (11) is in closed position, current does not reach the inner door lock mechanism (8) and it stays in closed position. The inner door key (11) comes into the open position while the outer door (7) is being opened and provides the inner door (6) to be opened a while after the outer door (7) is opened.

[022] The projection (21) extends out of the body (2) by way of the inner door key spring
(22) pushing it while the outer door (7) is being opened. When the projection (21) fully extends out of the body (2), the inner door key (11) switches to the open position, and the inner door (6) can be opened since it can transmit electricity to the inner door lock mechanism (8). The length of the projection (21) determines the distance between the inner door (6) and the outer door (7) when the inner door (6) is opened. The projection (21) is long enough to provide the outer door (7) to be distanced a certain amount so that the inner door does not hit the outer door (7) while it is opened.
[023] The washer/dryer (1) comprises safety systems (not shown in the drawings) preventing the inner door (6) and the outer door (7) from opening while the washing/ drying processes are going on. As these systems are widely used in the current state- of-the-art, detailed explanation is not given.
[024] When the washer/dryer is to be operated, after the laundry is loaded inside, first the inner door (6) then the outer door (7) is closed by the user. When the washing/drying processes are completed, the door opening button (10) is pressed on by the user enabling the outer door lock hook (12) to be freed from the outer door lock latch (14).
Afterwards the outer door lock spring (15) turns the housing and the outer door lock hook (12) is pushed with the effect of the turning motion. The outer door (7) is opened a little as a result of this pushing. When the door opening button (10) is pressed on, current does not flow to the inner door lock mechanism (8) since the outer door (7) is in closed position and the inner door key (11) onto which the outer door (7) presses is in closed position and the inner door (6) stays in the closed position. The user continues to open the outer door (7). When the outer door (7) is a certain distance away from the inner door (6), the inner door key (11) comes to the open position since the pressure of the outer door (7) on it is released. The inner door lock mechanism (8) opens with the current flowing in the circuit when the inner door key (11) comes into the open position. When the inner door lock mechanism (8) opens, the inner door (6) is distanced from the body (2) by some amount becoming ajar by way of the springs (not shown in the drawings) pushing it. As the inner door (6) is opened, the inner door (6) does not bump into the outer door (7) since the outer door (7) is already opened by some distance. The user then opens the inner door (6) and the outer door (7) by hand to the desired position and carries out the unloading process.
[025] After the clothes are loaded in the washer/dryer (1) and the inner door (6) is closed, before closing the outer door (7), if the user realizes that some clothes are forgotten and wants to open the inner door (6) again, she pushes the door opening button (10). When the door opening button (10) is pushed, the current reaching the outer door lock mechanism (9) will not have any effect since the outer door (7) is already in open position, but the current reaching the inner door lock mechanism (8) will trigger the inner door lock mechanism (8) and open the inner door (6) since the outer door (7) is open, and consequently the inner door key (11) is in the open position.
[026] With the door opening button (10) and the inner door key (11) onto which the outer door (7) presses, the user is enabled to open the inner door (6) and the outer door (7) in such a way to prevent their hitting to each other.

Claims
[001] A washer/dryer (1) comprising an inner door (6) , an outer door (7) covering the inner door (6) and preventing direct access to the inner door (6), one or more inner door lock mechanisms (8), an outer door lock mechanism (9), a door opening button (10) allowing the user to open the inner door lock mechanism (8) and/or the outer door lock mechanism (9) and characterized by an inner door key (11) on which the outer door (7) rests, being in closed position when the outer door (7) is closed, coming to open position while the outer door (7) is being opened as the pressure of the outer door (7) is lifted , and opening the inner door
(6) when the outer door (7) is opened without any additional procedures.
[002] A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the inner door key (11) which is connected electrically in series to the inner door lock mechanism (8). [003] A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the inner door key (11) which comes to open position while the outer door (7) is being opened and opens the inner door (6). [004] A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 1 to 3, characterized by the inner door key (11) comprising a projection (21) inserted into the body (2), onto which the outer door
(7) presses when the outer door (7) is closed and an inner door key spring (22) that pushes the projection (21).
[005] A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 4, characterized by the inner door key (11) comprising a projection (21) which is long enough to provide the outer door (7) to be distanced a certain amount so that the inner door (6) does not hit the outer door (7) while it is opened.
