Description

UTILISATION D'UNE COMPOSITION THERMOPLASTIQUE COMME ADDITIF POUR LA COLORATION OU L'IMPRESSION DE RÉSINES THERMOPLASTIQUES APOLAIRES, USE OF A THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITION AS ADDITIVE FOR COLORING OR PRINTING APOLAR THERMOPLASTIC RESINS,
TELLES QUE LE POLYPROPYLÈNE.SUCH AS POLYPROPYLENE.
The present invention relates to the use of a thermoplastic composition as an additive for improving the coloring or the printing, in particular for the decoration, of products or parts based on resins composed of apolar polymers, such as, for example, syndiotactic polypropylene. or isotactic (PP) or polyethylene (PE), without prior treatment (Corona treatment or flaming for example).
In particular, the invention relates to products, parts and objects that can be woven, injected, compressed or extruded.
It is known in the state of the art that products or parts based on apolar thermoplastic resins, in particular polypropylene, must be treated by processes such as flaming or corona treatment to create a polar surface.
Ensuite, ces substrats peuvent être colorés ou décorés par différentes méthodesThen these substrates can be colored or decorated by different methods
(procédés d'impression divers tels que sublimation, sérigraphie, ou peinture classique).(various printing processes such as sublimation, screen printing, or conventional painting).
Without prior treatment, this type of resin can not be tinted or decorated durably. The decor is not stable and does not meet the requirements related to the automotive sector for example (thermal aging, UV resistance, etc.).
Nevertheless, after aging these supports lose some of their properties.
It has now been found that the use of polyamide block graft copolymers consisting of a functional polyolefin trunk selected from ethylene-maleic anhydride and ethylene-alkyl (meth) acrylate-maleic anhydride copolymers, being in the form of nanostructured cocontinu alloy, allowed, to significantly improve the fixing of dyes or inks on the surface of products or parts based on non-polar resins such as atactic polypropylene. The originality of this invention compared to the current state of the art is the structure of our alloys.
The present invention therefore relates to the use of a thermoplastic composition as an additive for improving the coloring or the printing, in particular for the decoration, of products or parts based on resins composed of apolar thermoplastic polymers, such as polypropylene or polyethylene, characterized in that said composition comprises at least one graft copolymer with polyamide blocks, consisting of a functional polyolefin trunk selected from ethylene-maleic anhydride and ethylene-alkyl (meth) acrylate-maleic anhydride copolymers , and an antioxidant.
These graft copolymers with polyamide blocks are described in particular in the patent applications WO 02/28959 and FR 0202394 of the Applicant, the contents of which are incorporated in the present application.
Preferably, the polyamide grafts are homopolymers consisting of caprolactam residue, 1-amino-1-undecanoic acid or dodecalamethyl or copolyamides consisting of residues chosen from at least two of the preceding monomers.
However any other type of polyamide with monoNhte termination can be used. In particular, the molar mass of the grafts is between 1000 and 5000 g / mol.
Preferably, the composition further comprises UV radiation absorbing additives and / or stabilizing agents.
The invention also relates to products or parts colored or printed based on resins composed of apolar thermoplastic polymers, having good colorability or printing, characterized in that they comprise:
The nanostructured coconut alloys described therein contain on the one hand a component (ethylenic copolymer compatible with apolar polymers such as PP or PE and, on the other hand, a component (polyamide) compatible with polar molecules (ink, paint).
Les avantages de l'invention sont :The advantages of the invention are:
Non seulement une bonne adhérence de l'encre sur le PP est assurée, mais aussi cette décoration conserve ses propriétés après vieillissement thermique, action des UV et hydrolyse.• compared to prior PP treatments: no need for pre-treatment facilities; the system allows more flexibility as regards the methods of decoration (serigraphy, sublimation) compared to macrostructured alloys, as for example described in document WO 97/47684: with at most 20% of the additive of the invention in the PP, a decoration of this substrate according to known methods (screen printing, sublimation, painting) is possible. Not only good adhesion of the ink on the PP is assured, but also this decoration retains its properties after thermal aging, UV action and hydrolysis.
