IN THE MOBILE NETWORK
TECHNICAL FIELD This invention relation relates to an on-line settlement system through a communication network, and more particularly to a mutual authentication and settlement system and method through a mobile communication terminal for performing an authentication process using the mobile communication terminal.
BACKGROUND ART
In recent years, shopping and settlement for the shopping through financial transaction on the Internet are rapidly increasing. However, since an individual's credit card number is input and money must be settled through a payment gateway for financial transaction, there is a disadvantage in that the financial transaction can be conducted only when one knows a complicated account number of a transaction counterpart. In addition, such a financial transaction cannot be applied to micro payment.
In addition, when a user wants to transfer money through his personal computer (PC), after applying to abank formoneytransfer and registering the money transfer in the bank, he must download various electronic wallets and perform a payment process through a payment gateway. Thus, when others use PCs, the user may have a feeling of insecurity to the payment process. However, since the payment process cannot be performed without using the PC, the user receives a somewhat restricted service.
In addition, in recent years, a method of making a bill after settling money for goods within the limit of pre-purchased electronic money is being increasingly used. However, it is the actual circumstances that this method is being used without sufficient consideration about various problems such as lack of franchises in which the electronic money is usable, lack of user' s understanding of the electronic money, insufficient measures for security, inconvenience to treatment of a large amount of money and the like.
Therefore, there is a need of a method in which many and unspecified persons simply perform a settlement process through transaction counterparts' telephone numbers in wired andwireless circumferences, irrespective of an amount of money and without limitingto a certain location, thusproviding convenience ofusers, reduction of commissions paid to the payment gateway, and safety of money transfer by protection of information on the transaction counterparts.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following detailed description of the present invention, concrete description on related functions or constructions will be omitted if it is deemed that the functions and/or constructions may unnecessarily obscure the gist of the present invention.
The present invention suggests a method for performing financial transaction such as funds transfer in real time through mutual authentication between a transmitting side and a receiving side in the course of telephone call between the transmitting side and the receiving side using mobile communication terminals. In addition, in the financial transaction according to the present invention, financial accounts of the transmitting side and the receiving side are inquired and funds are transmitted using a call connected between the transmitting side and the receiving side through a mobile communication network.
On the other hand, according to the present invention, when the financial transaction is conducted through the mobile communication terminals, authentication for not only a remitter (a person who transmits a fund) but also a remittee (a person who receives a fund) is performed to secure safety of the financial transaction.
Accordingly, in a settlement system according to the present invention, inorderto settle a fundfromaremittingside (remitter) to a fund receiving side (remittee) , the remitting side inputs a settlement number and selects and transmits a settlement fund and a settlement method according to a guide announcement. The financial transaction is progressed in a manner that the fund receiving side inputs his terminal password in order to approve the settlement.
That is, the financial transaction through the mobile communication terminals according to the present invention includes a settlement process and a transfer process through authentication for both side using user identification numbers or user passwords.
Prior to description of the present invention, terms used in the present invention are arranged and described.
The present invention provides a technique for performing financial settlement using a call established between a transmitting side mobile communication terminal and a receiving side mobile communication terminal during or after telephone call therebetween. In this case, as methods of financial settlement between the calling transmitting side and the called receiving side, transaction from the transmitting side to the receiving side maybe conductedbyrequest ofthetransmitting side, ortransaction from the transmitting side to the receiving side or transaction from the receiving side to the transmitting side may be conducted by request of the receiving side. In the mean time, the present invention is impartially applicable to these methods of financial settlement. Here, for the purpose of convenience, a user who transmits a fund is called ^remitter' and a user who receives a fund is called Λremittee' irrespective of call subjects of the transmitting side and the receiving side. Inperformingmutual authentication and settlement according to the present invention, the remitter uses 'an integrated settlement number' indicating start of financial transaction. The integrated settlement number is a settlement number granted to a terminal or an individual or a settlement start signal and may be set as a confirmable number, signal or data according to a characteristic of a communication network used. That is, when the remitter inputs the integrated settlement number through his mobile communication terminal, he starts financial transaction withtheremitteethroughamobilecommunicationnetwork, according to the present invention.
On the other hand, in practicing the present invention, when the remitterorthe remittee inputs a Settlement real-timenumber' , authentication for the remitter or the remittee is performed in real time. λInput of the settlement real-time number' means a recognition process covering a recognition and confirmation process in which the settlement real-time number is input to a mobile communication terminal by transmitting the settlement real-time number to a receiving side or a transmitting side by means of voice guidance, data, short message service (SMS) or the like, orpre-storedinormanuallyinput tothemobile communication terminal.
In addition, a guidance message provided in the course of settlementbetweenthe remitter andthe remitteemay includevoice, date, characters and the like. In addition, for example, methods including a graphic user interface (GUI) , ABS, SMS and the like can be applied to the guidance message.
On the other hand, ^account' used in the present invention means a financial system as a settlement account of a mobile communication terminal of the remitter or the remittee or a unique settlement account of a user. The account may include a virtual account, a card, bank, integratedcharge of a communication service provider, a part of a third party financial system.
The present invention is characterized in that settlement is conducted during a call between a transmitting side and a receiving side through mobile communication terminals, or in the middle between receipt and transmission, or after completion of the call. Inaddition, thepresent inventionis also characterized inthatthe settlement is conductedthroughanaccount ora financial system connected between the transmitting side and the receiving side.
In this case, the settlement may be conducted using methods including real-time credit, delayed credit, integrated charge and thelike, andsettlementbetweenthecommunicationserviceprovider and a financial institution may be implemented through a third party system.
Hereinafter, a structure of a system according to the present invention will be described with reference to Figs . 1 to 3.
Fig. 1 is a diagram illustrating a structure of a mutual authentication and settlement system through a mobile communication terminal according to the present invention.
Referring to Fig. 1, a user A 100 and a user B 120 can make a call therebetween through their mobile communication terminals.
At this time, the call is established between the mobile communication terminals via a certain communication network 110. The communication network 110 includes wired/wireless communicationnetworks, andispreferablyawireless communication network for application of the present invention. Accordingly, the communication network 110 may include a wireless network termination apparatus including base stations, base station controllers and the like, a wireless switching systemand the like.
According to the present invention, financial settlement can be conducted from the user A 100 to the use B 120 while the user
A 100 makes a call to the user B 120, or by request of the user
B 120, or from the user B 120 to the user A 100. At this time, the financial settlement is conducted in a settlement server 140 connected to the communication network 110. That is, the settlement server 140 can perform an authentication according to a request of the user for financial transaction, inquire particulars of an account of a relevant user (user A or user B) through a relevant financial institution 130, and perform a settlement process through the financial institution 130.
The financial institution may include a credit card company 131, bank 132, a third settlement agency 133 in which a virtual account is established, and so on. That is, when a remitter (for example, user A 100) inputs theabove-mentionedintegratedsettlementnumbertothe settlement server 140, the settlement server 140 receives the input integrated settlement number through the communication network 110, performs an authentication process for the input integrated settlement number, and begins to conduct a financial transaction between the transmitting side and the receiving side based on a result of the authentication.
Hereinafter, fund transfer from the user A 100 to the user B 120 through the system shown in Fig. 1 according to the present invention will be exemplified.
First, the userA 100 makes a call to the user B 120 to establish a telephone call between them. On the other hand, as described above, according to the present invention, a settlement process can be conducted during a call between the transmitting side and the receiving side, or in the middle between receipt and transmission, or after completion of the call. A detailed settlement process for each case will be described in detail later.
The userAlOO inputs the preset integrated settlement number through his mobile communication terminal. For example, if the integrated settlement number is λ1011', λ1011' is input through a keypad of the mobile communication terminal.
The input number is transmitted to the communication network 110. The communication network 110 receives the transmitted number and determines the received number as the integrated settlement number, and then, informs the settlement server that the user A 100 applied for a financial transaction with the user
B 120 who made a call with the user A 100. That is, information on the user A 100 is transmitted to the settlement server 140.
Then, the settlement server 140 confirms the integrated settlement number of the user A 100 and searches for settlement financial information corresponding to the user A 100 from the financial institution 130. Accordingly, the settlement server 140 requests the settlement financial information selected from the financialinstitution130 andprovidesthe settlement financial information to the user A 100 through the communication network 110. In addition, the settlement server 140 requests the user A 100 to input a settlement fund.
The user A 100 receives the settlement fund input request and inputs and transmits the settlement fund according to the received settlement fund input request. Information on the input settlement fundistransmittedto the settlement server 140. Then, the settlement server 140 transmits a guideannouncement torequest the user A 100 to input a settlement real-time number for authentication for the user A 100. The user A 100 who receives the guide announcement to the input of the settlement real-time number completes the fund transfer to the user B 120 by inputting the settlement real-time number according to the received guide announcement.
On the other hand, the settlement server 140 confirms whether or not the settlement real-time number is normally input from by the user, and then, inquires a settlement account of the user B 120, who will receive the settlement fund, through the financial institution 130. Then, the settlement server 140 stores information on the settlement account of the user B 120 inquired from the financial institution 130 and requests the user B 120 to input a recipient password.
When the userB 120 inputs a preset settlement number, amutual authentication is performed according to the present invention.
In addition, the settlement server 140 transmits a guide announcement to request the user B 120 as the remittee to input a settlement real-time number, in a way similar to the way used for the user A 100, for more reliable authentication.
TheuserB 120 confirms whetherornot the settlement real-time number input by the user B 120 is correct, and then transfers the financial fund from an account of the user A 100 to the user B
120. That is, after the mutual authentication is completed as described above, the settlement server 140 requests the financial institution 130 to conduct an account transfer of the financial fund requested by the user A 100. Thus, the financial fund transfer through the mutual authentication between the users whomake a call throughthemobile communication terminals is achieved.
On the other hand, of the above-described processes, the integrated settlement number input process may be changed in an order in a flow of settlement procedure. For example, a preset input number may be input as the integrated settlement or may be inputusingapreseteasybuttonorthelikeonamobilecommunication terminal. In addition, the integrated settlement number to be input may be expressed as certain data. In addition, depending on its implementation, the settlement server 140 for performing a settlement service according to the present invention, as shown in Fig. 1, may be included in the communication network 110, in the financial institution 130, or in the third settlement agency 133. In addition, the settlement guide messages used in the above processes may be set within the mobile communication terminals, or may be set to be included in a communication service provider system or a financial institution system. Accordingly, the above-described settlement process may be implemented with modification to some extent.
Hereinafter, an overall configuration of a communication network including the mobile communication network of Fig. 1 to which the present invention is applied will be described with reference to Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a diagram illustrating configuration of a communication network including the mobile communication network to which the present invention is applied.
Referring to Fig. 2, a subject of the mutual authentication and settlement may be a mobile communication terminal 200, a smart phone 201, a wireless LAN accessible notebook computer 207, a personal computer (PC) 209, a voice Internet protocol (VoIP) telephone217, apublic switchedtelephonenetwork (PSTN) telephone 220 and the like. The present invention suggests a mutual authenticationmethodbetweenmobile communicationterminals 200. The mobile communication terminal 200 and the smart phone 201 supported by VoIP are connected to a mobile communication network 203 through a wireless network termination apparatus 202 including base stations, base station controllers and the like, which are also connected to the mobile communication network 203. Themobile communicationnetwork203 canbe connectedto an Internet network 210 through a packet switch 205 and a packet mode gateway 206. In addition, the mobile communication network 203 can be connectedto apublic switchedtelephone network (PSTN) 222 through a circuit switch 204 and a circuit mode gateway 223. The wireless LAN accessible notebook computer 207 can access the Internet network 210 through a wireless LAN 208 and the PC 207 can access the Internet network 210 through a LAN card and the like.
In addition, the VoIP telephone 217 can access the Internet network 210 through an intelligent peripheral private branch exchange (IP-PBX) 218 and the packet mode gateway 219, and the PSTN telephone 220 can access the PSTN 222 through a private branch exchange (PBX) 221.
On the other hand, the settlement server 212 for performing the mutual settlement according to the present invention can be connected to the Internet network 211 through an intelligent network exchanger 211. In addition, for inquiry of accounts of users and process of settlement, the settlement server 212 is connected to various financial institutions 213 including a credit card company 214, bank 215, virtual account 216 andthe like through a network for smooth data communication.
Fig.3 is a diagram illustrating a signal connection relation between the transmitting side and the receiving side according to an embodiment of the present invention. Referring to Fig. 3, the mutual authentication is performed through mobile communication terminals in order to implement the present invention through the communication network shown in Fig. 2.
Amobile communication terminal of the user AlOO and a mobile communication terminal of the user B 120 are connected to each other through a wireless communication network. Assuming that the user A 100 attempts to make a call to the user B 120 and a call is established between them, data from the user A 100 are transmitted to the mobile communication terminal of the user B 120 through a transmitting side base station 300 communicating with the user A 100, a mobile communication network 310, and then a receiving side base station 320 connected to the user B 120. Likewise, data from the user B 120 are transmitted to the mobile communication terminal of the user A 100 through the receiving side base station 320 communicating with the user B 120, themobile communication network 310, and then the transmitting side base station 300 connected to the user A 100.
On the other hand, when the user A 100 performs a financial transactionwith the user B 120 according to the present invention, the user A 100 is connected to a settlement server 370 through the transmitting side base station 300, the mobile communication network 310, apacket switch 330, a gateway 340, an Internet network 350, and an intelligent network exchanger 360.
Likewise, the user B 120 is connectedto the settlement server 370 through the receiving side base station 320, the mobile communication network 310, the packet switch.330, the gateway 340, the Internet network 350, and the intelligent network exchanger 360.
In addition, as described above, the settlement server 370 according to the present invention is connected to a financial institution 380 including a credit card company 381, bank 382, virtualaccount 383 as athirdsettlement agencyandthelikethrough communication means for data communication.
Hereinafter, processes performed by the remitter, the remittee and the settlement server when the mutual authentication and settlement according to the present invention is performed will be described in detail with reference to Figs. 4 to 6.
Fig. 4 is a flow chart illustrating a settlement process in aremittermobileterminal accordingto anembodiment ofthepresent invention.
Referring to Fig. 4, after a call path between the remitter and the remittee is established through a mobile communication network according to the present invention (Step 401) , a financial transaction is progressed. That is, as described above, the financial transaction according to the present invention can be progressed during a call between the remitter and the remittee through mobile communication terminals, or in the middle between receipt and transmission, or after completion of the call. At this time, in the call path between the transmitting side and the receiving side, financial settlement is progressed with information on the transmitting side and the receiving side maintained on the communication network.
First, the remitter who attempts to transfer a financial fund transmits a settlement start signal to the settlement server by inputting an integrated settlement number through his mobile communication terminal (Step 402) . Then, the remitter receives information on his settlement account and information on request of financial fund input from the settlement server (Step 403) .
Based on the received information on request of financial fund input, the remitter inputs a financial fund to be remitted and transmits the input financial fund to the settlement server (Step 404) . Then, the remitter receives a settlement real-time number guide message from the settlement server (Step 405) , inputs a relevant settlement real-time number according to the received settlement real-time number guide message and transmits the relevant settlementreal-timenumbertothesettlement server (Step 406) . In this manner, more reliable authentication is performed accordingtotheabove-describedsettlementreal-timenumber input process. That is, the settlement real-time number guide message includes a certain number in the form of voice or character, and the authentication is once more performed by retransmitting the included number to the settlement server.
When the settlement process in the settlement server is completed, informationonwhether ornot the settlement is normally processed is transmitted to the mobile communication terminals. Accordingly, theremitterreceivesa settlementprocess completion messagefromthe settlement serverthroughhismobilecommunication terminal (Step 407) .
Fig. 5 is a flow chart illustrating a settlement process in a remitteemobileterminal accordingtoanembodiment ofthepresent invention.
Referring to Fig. 5, after a call path between the remitter and the remittee is established through a mobile communication network according to the present invention (Step 501) , a financial transaction is progressed.
Onthe otherhand, as showninFig.4, whenthe remitterapplies forthe financialtransaction, suchas fundtransfertothe remittee, through the mobile communication terminal of the remitter, the settlement server performs the authentication for the remittee according to the present invention.
That is, the settlement server transmits a receiving side password input request message for settlement to the mobile communication terminal of the remittee, and the remittee receives the receiving side password input request message for settlement from the remitter through the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 502) . The remitter inputs his preset password through his mobile communication terminal and transmits the input password to the settlement server (Step 503) . Thereafter, when the settlement server receives the transmitted password and determines the password to be correct, the remittee receives a settlement real-time number guide message from the settlement server (Step 504) .
The remittee inputs a relevant settlement real-time number accordingtothereceivedsettlementreal-timenumberguidemessage through his mobile communication terminal and transmits the input settlement real-time number to the settlement server (Step 505) . Then, the settlement server determines whether or not the input settlement real-time number is correct and completes the financial settlement process.
Finally, when the settlement server completes the financial transactionnormally, it transmits a settlementprocess completion message to the remitter and the remittee. Accordingly, the remittee receives the settlement process completion message through his mobile communication terminal (Step 506) , thereby confirming whether or not transfer of the financial fund to his account is normally processed.
Fig. 6 is a flow chart illustrating a process in a settlement server according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to Fig. 6, as shown in Fig. 4, when the remitter inputs and transmits an integrated settlement number through his mobile communication terminal, the settlement server receives the integrated settlement number transmitted through the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 601) .
If it is determined that the received number is correct (Step 602) , the settlement server confirms information on a preset account number of the remitter through a calling identification number for the remitter, requests the financial institution or the like to send settlement financial information of the remitter, and searches for the settlement financial information sent from the financial institution, based on the information on the account number (Step 603) .
Basedonaresult ofthe search, the settlement server receives the settlement financial information for the remitter from the financial institution and transmits the settlement financial information according to settlement information selected by the remitter and a settlement fund input request message to the mobile communication terminal of the- remitter (Step 604) .
When information on the settlement fund input through the mobile communication terminal of the remitter is transmitted to the settlement server, the settlement server receives the transmitted information on the settlement fund (Step 605) and transmits a settlement real-time number guidemessage tothemobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 606) .
Whena settlement real-timenumber is input throughthemobile communication terminal of the remitter and is transmitted to the settlement server, the settlement server receives the transmitted settlement real-time number (Step 607) and determines whether or not the received settlement real-time number is correct (Step 608) . In this case, if it is determined that the settlement real-time number is not correct, the settlement server may create an error message and transmit it to the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 609) .
If it is determined that the settlement real-time number is correct, the settlement server inquires an account of the remittee through the financial institution (Step 610) . At this time, since the call between the remitter and the remittee has been already established through their mobile communication terminals, if a request of the remitter for settlement is approved, the settlement server can inquire information on the account of the remitter using a mobile communication telephone number of the remittee through a mobile communication network. After the account of the remittee is inquired, the settlement server transmits a password input request message for settlement to the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 611) .
Then, the settlement server receives a password input through the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 612) , and, if it is determined that the password is correct, transfers a financial fund from the account of the remitter to the account of the remittee (Step 613) .
When the above-described settlement process through the mutual authentication is completed, the settlement server transmits a settlement process completion message to the mobile communication terminals of the remitter and the remittee (Step
614) .
So far, the processes performed by the remitter, the remittee and the settlement server according to the mutual authentication andsettlement service ofthepresent inventionhavebeendescribed. Hereinafter, examples of service implementation for each case of calls according to embodiments of the present invention will be described.
<First embodiment - mutual settlement after temporary call end using voice and data exchange by means of S/W settlement module>
Fig. 7 is a flow chart illustrating a mutual authentication and settlement process using a temporary call endmethod according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Referring to Fig.7, themutual authentication and settlement process according to the embodiment of the present invention can be performed during a call between a transmitting side and a receiving side (Step 701) . Specifically, thetransmittingsidethat attempts totransmit a financial fund to the receiving side during the call inputs a settlement request signal (or number) through a user input interface (that is, an input device such as a keypad) of his mobile communication terminal (Step 702) . Then, according to the input settlement request signal, a settlement module contained in the mobile communication terminal displays a message to request the transmitting side to input a settlement fund (Step 703) on a display- device of the mobile communication terminal. That is, in order to provide a service according to the embodiment of the present invention, the mobile communication terminal must include a settlement module in a manner of hardware or software and display appropriate interface means according to a settlement service request from a service user.
On the other hand, the remitter (i.e., the transmitting side) inputs a financial fund through a settlement fund input column displayed on the display device of the mobile communication terminal (Step 704), and the settlement module requests the remittertoselectoneofsettlementmeans (Step705) . Theremitter selects any settlement means (Step 706) and, according to a settlement request acknowledgement request (Step 707) from the terminal settlement module, performs a settlement request (Step 708) .
According to the settlement request, the terminal settlement module transmits information related to settlement, such as an IDofthe remitter (i.e. , caller ID (CID) ) , anidentificationnumber of the remittee (i.e., the receiving side) on the phone to the remitter, and the settlement fund, to the settlement server according to the present invention (Step 709) .
The settlement server that is received the transmitted settlement information stores and confirms the settlement information (Step 710) and, based on information on the remitter, confirms whether or not the remitter subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service (Step 711) . In addition, the settlement server confirms whether or not the remittee subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service, based on information on the remittee (Step 712) .
As a result of the confirmation, if it is confirmed that the remitter is a proper subscriber, the settlement server requests a financial company, a settlement institution or a virtual account to confirm a settlement fund balance of the remitter (Step 713) in order to inquire a settlement account of the remitter. The financial company, the settlement institution or the virtual account confirms the settlement fund balance of the remitter according to the request from the settlement server (Step 714) andtransmits a result of the confirmation to the settlement server ( Step 715 ) .
If the settlement server determines that a financial fund settlement is possible from the confirmed settlement fund balance of the remitter, it informs the mobile communication terminal of the remitter that the financial fund settlement is possible (Step
716) .
Then, the terminal settlement module of the mobile communication terminal of the remitter informs a call module of themobile communication terminal of settlement access (Step 717) , and then, for the settlement service, the call module informs the mobile communicationnetwork of end of call with the remittee (Step 718) .
The mobile communication network that received a message of call end performs an end process of the call with the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 719) . Accordingly, the mobile communication terminal of the remitter receives call connection sound or is informed of call end (Step 720) .
In the other hand, a voice exchanger of the settlement server transmits a new call connection signal to the mobile communication terminal of the remittee in order to provide the mutual authentication and settlement service according to the present invention (Step 721) . Accordingly, the remittee establishes call connection with the settlement server (Step 722) , and the voice exchanger of the settlement server informs the settlement server of the call connection of the remittee with the settlement server (Step 723 ) .
The settlement server informed of the call connection with the remittee transmits a remitteepassword requestmessage through a voice guide to the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step724) . The remittee inputs a dual tonemulti frequency (DTMF) password or other codes through his mobile communication terminal
(Step 725) .
The settlement server confirms the input password (Step 726) and ends the call with the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 727) .
Then, the settlement server transmits remittee settlement information (for example, a remittee name, an account name, a settlement fundandthe'like) anda settlement confirmationrequest message to the settlement module of the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 728) . The terminal settlement moduledisplays contents ofconfirmationof settlement information and a request of a settlement password or a code through the user input interface (Step 729) . Accordingly, the remitter inputs the settlement password or the code through the user input interface (Step 730), and the input information is transmitted to the settlement server (Step 731) .
The settlement server confirms the settlement password received from the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 732) , and then, requests the financial company or the like to approve the settlement (Step 733) . According to the request from the settlement server, the financial company, the settlement institution or the virtual account performs settlement approval confirmation and settlement approval (Step 734) and settles the financial fund according to relevant contents (Step 735) . Accordingly, the settlement institution transmits a settlement approval message to inform a normal approval of the settlement to the settlement server (Step 736) .
The settlement server receives and stores the settlement approval message (Step 737) and informs the mobile communication of the remitter of the settlement approval (Step 738) .
On the other hand, since the mutual authentication and settlement has completed according to the above-described processes, a call connection is again established to make a call between the remitter and the remittee. More specifically, by establishing the call connection between the mobile communication terminal of the remitter and the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 739) , a voice signal (Step 740) transmitted through the mobile communication terminal of the remitter is voice-exchanged in the settlement server (Step 741) and then transmitted to the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 742) , and a voice signal (Step 743) transmitted through the mobile communication terminal of the remittee is voice-exchanged in the settlement server (Step 744) and then transmitted to the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 745) . <Second embodiment - mutual settlement during call using voice and data exchange by means of S/W settlement module>
Fig. 8 is a flow chart illustrating a mutual authentication andsettlementprocessusinganon-call settlementmethodaccording to a second embodiment of the present invention. Referring to Fig. 8, in the method according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the mutual authentication and settlement process is performed in a state where a call is maintained, while Fig. 7 shows that the call between the remitter and the remittee is temporarilyended inthe course of settlement in order to perform the mutual authentication and settlement process according the present invention.
First, the remitter who attempts to transmit a financial fund to the remittee during a call between the remitter and the remittee (Step 801) inputs a settlement request signal (or number) through a user input interface (that is, an input device such as a keypad) of the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 802) . Then, according to the input settlement request signal, a settlement module contained in the mobile communication terminal displays a message to request the remitter to input a settlement fund (Step 803) on a display device of the mobile communication terminal. That is, in order to provide a service according to the embodiment of the present invention, the mobile communication terminal must include a settlement module in a manner of hardware or software and display appropriate interface means according to a settlement service request from a service user.
Onthe otherhand, theremitter inputs a financial fundthrough a settlement fund input column displayed on the display device ofthemobile communicationterminal (Step 804) , andthe settlement module requests the remitter to select one of settlement means (Step 805) . The remitter selects any settlement means (Step 806) and, according to a settlement request acknowledgement request (Step 807) from the terminal settlement module, performs a settlement request (Step 808) .
According to the settlement request, the terminal settlement module transmits information related to settlement, such as an
IDofthe remitter (i.e. , caller ID (CID) ) , anidentificationnumber of the remittee on the phone to the remitter, and the settlement fund, to the settlement server according to the present invention
(Step 809) .
The settlement server that is received the transmitted settlement information stores and confirms the settlement information (Step 810) and, based on information on the remitter, confirms whether or not the remitter subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service (Step 811) . In addition, the settlement server confirms whether or not the remittee subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service, based on information on the remittee (Step 812) . As a result of the confirmation, if it is confirmed that the remitter is a proper subscriber, the settlement server requests a financial company, a settlement institution or a virtual account to confirm a settlement fund balance of the remitter (Step 813) in order to inquire a settlement account of the remitter. The financial company, the settlement institution or the virtual account confirms the settlement fund balance of the remitter according to the request from the settlement server (Step 814) andtransmits a result of the confirmationto the settlement server (Step 815) . On the other hand, according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the mutual authentication and settlement process according to the present invention is performed in a call waiting state through an output of call connection sound, not after a temporary end of the call. More specifically, the settlement server requests a settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit to connect the remitterto the remittee (Step 816) , andthe settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit requests themobile communicationnetworkto connect the remittertothe remittee (Step 817) .
The mobile communication network receives a remitter and remitteeconnectionrequestmessageandoutputsthecallconnection sound to the mobile communication terminals of the remitter to the remittee (Step 818) . Then, the mobile communication informs the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit that the connection of the remitter to the remittee is possible (Step 819) .
The settlement servercharacter/voiceguideandexchangeunit receives a message to inform the possibility of the connection of the remitter and the remittee and transmits a message to request a remitter connection and a voice guide remitter password and a message to request a remittee connection and a voice guide remittee password to the remitter and the remittee, respectively (Steps 820 and 821) . On the other hand, the financial company or the settlement institutionrequestedtoapprovethe settlementfromthesettlement server confirms a settlement approval requestmessage and approves the settlement (Step 832), and then settles a relevant financial fund (Step 833) . Then, the financial company or the settlement institution transmits a settlement approval informing message to informthe settlement server ofnormal completionofthe settlement to the settlement server (Step 834), and the settlement server receives and stores the transmitted settlement approval informing message (Step 835) . In addition, the settlement server requests the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit to transmit information related to the settlement to the remitter and the remittee (Step 836) . Last, the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit transmits the settlement information (for example, a name, an account name, a settlement fund and the like) to the mobile communication terminals of the remitter and the remittee by means of SMS or the like (Steps 837 and838) .
<Third embodiment - mutual settlement through voice and data exchange by means of a character message call> Fig. 9 is a flow chart illustrating a mutual authentication and settlement process through voice and data exchange using a character message call according to a third embodiment of the present invention. Referring to Fig. 9, the remitter first requests a settlement and then begins to make a call with the remittee after a settlement account of the remitter is inquired in the mutual authentication and settlement process according to the third embodiment of the present invention, while Fig. 8 shows that the settlement process is performed during the call in order to perform the mutual authentication and settlement process according to the present invention and the settlement procedure is progressed after the call waiting state is maintained by requesting the mobile communication network to connect the remitter to the remittee during the settlement process.
That is, the call is first progressed, and then, when the remitter requests the settlement for the remittee during the call, the settlement procedure is progressed in the call temporary stop state or the call waiting state in the first and second embodiment shown in Figs. 7 and 8, respectively. However, in the third embodiment of the present invention shown in Fig. 9, the remitter first requests settlement before a call is made, and then, if it is determined, through settlement account inquiry, that the settlement is possible, the mutual authentication and settlement service through call connection of the remitter to the remittee is progressed.
First, in a state where a call connectionbetween the remitter and the remittee is not established yet, the remitter who attempts to transmit a financial fund to the remittee inputs a settlement request signal (or number) through a user input interface (that is, an input device such as a keypad) of the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 901) . Then, according to the input settlement request signal, a settlement module contained in the mobile communication terminal displays a message to request the remitter to input a settlement fund (Step 902) on a display device of themobile communicationterminal. That is, in order to provide a service according to the embodiment of the present invention, themobile communicationterminalmust include a settlementmodule in a manner of hardware or software and display appropriate interface means according to a settlement service request from a service user.
Ontheotherhand, theremitterinputs a financial fundthrough a settlement fund input column displayed on the display device of the mobile communication terminal (Step 903) , and the terminal settlementmodule requests the remitter to select one of settlement means (Step 904) . The remitter selects any settlement means (Step
905) and, accordingtoa settlementrequestacknowledgement request
(Step 906) from the terminal settlement module, performs a settlement request (Step 907) . According to the settlement request, the terminal settlement module transmits information related to settlement, such as an IDoftheremitter (i.e. , callerID (CID) ) , anidentificationnumber of the remittee who wants to conduct financial transaction such as financial fund transfer, and the settlement fund, to the settlement server according to the present invention (Step 908) .
The settlement server that is received the transmitted settlement information stores and confirms the settlement information (Step 909) and, based on information on the remitter, confirms whether or not the remitter subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service (Step 910) . If it is confirmed that the remitter does not subscribe for the mutual authentication and settlement service, the settlement server transmits a subscription request message to the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 911) . On the other hand, if it is confirmed that the remitter subscribes for themutual authentication and settlement service, the settlement server confirms whether or not the remittee subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service, based on the information on the remittee (Step 912) . As a result of the confirmation, if it is confirmed that the remitter is a proper subscriber, the settlement server requests a financial company, a settlement institution or a virtual account to confirm a settlement fund balance of the remitter (Step 913) in order to inquire a settlement account of the remitter. The financial company, the settlement institution or the virtual account confirms the settlement fund balance of the remitter according to the request from the settlement server (Step 914) and transmits a result of the confirmation to the settlement server (Step 915) . AS a result of the settlement fund balance confirmation, if it is confirmed that the settlement fund balance is insufficient, the settlement server transmits a balance confirmation request and settlement error informingmessage to themobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 916) . However, if abalance remains in other settlement accounts of the remitter, the other settlement accounts may be inquired for settlement process.
On the other hand, according to the third embodiment of the present invention, since a call connection between the remitter and the remittee is not currently established, the settlement server requests a settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit to connect the remitter to the remittee (Step 917) , and the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit requests connection to the mobile communication terminal of the remitter to the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Steps 918 and 919) . On the other hand, the settlement server may process data as well as characters and voice.
According to the request for the connection, upon receiving a connection response signal from both of the remitter and the remittee (Steps 920 and921) , thesettlementservercharacter/voice guide and exchange unit transmits a connection possibility informing message to the settlement server (Step 922) . Then, a call connection between the mobile communication terminal of the remitter and the mobile communication terminal of the remittee is established (Steps 923 and 924) . Then, the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit transmits a message to request a remitter connection and a voice guide remitter password and a message to request a remittee connection and a voice guide remittee password to the remitter and the remittee, respectively (Steps 925 and 926) . The settlement server character/voiceguide andexchangeunit receives DTMF passwords or other codes input from the remitter and remittee, respectively (Steps 927 and 929) and confirms the received input passwords (Steps 928 and 930) .
If it is confirmed that the passwords are correct, the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit transmits settlement information to the settlement server (Step 931) . The settlement server that received the settlement information confirms and stores the received settlement information (Step 932) , and then, requests the financial company, the settlement institution or the virtual account to approve the settlement (Step 935) .
At this time, the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit establishes a call connection between the remitter and the remittee (Step 933) , thereby enabling a call between the mobile communication terminal of the remitter and the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 934) .
On the other hand, the financial company or the settlement institutionrequestedtoapprovethe settlement fromthesettlement server confirms a settlement approval requestmessage and approves the settlement (Step 936) , and then settles a relevant financial fund (Step 937) . Then, the financial company or the settlement institution transmits a settlement approval informing message to informthe settlement server ofnormal completionof the settlement to the settlement server (Step 938), and the settlement server receives and stores the transmitted settlement approval informing message (Step 939) .
In addition, the settlement server requests the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit to transmit information related to the settlement to the remitter and the remittee (Step 940) . Finally, the settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit transmits the settlement information (for example, a name, an account name, a settlement fund and the like) to the mobile communication terminals of the remitter and the remittee by means of SMS or the like (Steps 941 and 942) .
<Fourth embodiment - mutual settlement according to a settlement request of the remitter using character messages>
Fig. 10 is a flow chart illustrating a mutual authentication andsettlementprocessusingatransmittingsidesettlementrequest method using character messages according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention. In this case, the character messages are to be understood as a concept including data communication means. Referring to Fig. 10, unlike the above-described first to third embodiments, after a transmitting side requests a receiving side to settle a financial fund through a character message, a call connection between the transmitting side and the receiving side is established to perform the mutual authentication and settlement process according to the present invention. That is, after a person who wants to receive a financial fundmakes a request for receipt of a financial fund, a call connection is established through an authentication process of the settlement server, and then, a settlement process is performed through the authentication process according to the present invention.
First, in a state where a call connection is not established yet, a transmitting side (the remittee) that wants to receive a financial fund from a receiving side (the remitter) inputs a settlement request signal (or number) through a user input interface (that is, an input device such as a keypad) of his mobile communication terminal (Step 1001) . Then, according to the input settlement request signal, a settlement module contained in the mobile communication terminal displays a message to request the remittee to input a settlement fund (Step 1002) on a display device of themobile communicationterminal. That is, in ordertoprovide a service according to the embodiment of the present invention, themobile communicationterminalmust include a settlementmodule in a manner of hardware or software and display appropriate interface means according to a settlement service request from a service user.
Onthe otherhand, the remittee inputs a financial fundthrough a settlement fund input column displayed on the display device of the mobile communication terminal (Step 1003) , and the terminal settlement module requests the remittee to select one of his accounts (Step 1004) . The remittee selects or inputs one of his accounts (Step 1005) and, according to a request from the terminal settlement module for input of a remitter connection number
(information) and a settlement request message to be transmitted to the remitter (Step 1006) , inputs the remitter connection number (information) (Step 1007) .
According to the input information, the terminal settlement module transmits information related to settlement, such as an IDoftheremittee (i.e., callerID (CID) ) , anidentificationnumber of the remitter, and the settlement fund, to the settlement server according to the present invention by means of SMS or the like (Step 908) .
The settlement server that is received the transmitted information stores and confirms the settlement information (Step 1009) and, based on information on the remittee, confirms whether or not the remittee subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service (Step 1010) . If it is confirmed that the remittee does not subscribe for the mutual authentication and settlement service, the settlement servertransmits a subscription request message to the mobile communication terminal of the remittee (Step 1011) . On the other hand, if it is confirmed that the remittee subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service, the settlement server confirms whether or not the remitter subscribes for the mutual authentication and settlement service, based on the information on the remitter (Step 1012) .
Then, according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention, the settlement server requests a settlement server character/voice guide and exchange unit to transmit settlement request information to the mobile communication terminal of the remitter (Step 1013) .
Thesettlement servercharacter/voiceguideandexchangeunit that received the settlement request information generates a one-time telephone number (i.e., a temporary telephone number) used for settlement confirmation of the remitter according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention (Step 1014) .
