Abstract

A releasable brake system is actuatable to engage an edge portion (typically a lower edge) of one or more sheet items present in a container. The brake is releasable to disengage from the respective edges of the sheet items. A side securing arrangement includes a contact member (86) which is movable to secure the sheet items from a side orientation, sheet face adjacent. The side securing arrangement is releasable and provided with limiter means (87) enabling the securing force applied to be monitored, limited or controlled.
