Abstract

The invention relates to an actuating handle for a lock which is mounted in or on a door leaf, said lock having a hub, mounted to rotate about an axis, and at least one latch, displaceable against the action of a spring, whereby the handle induces the displacement of the latch by rotation of a square piece which engages into the hub. According to said invention, the projecting part, which is securely connected to the handle, is mounted, at a lock-sided end thereof, on a bearing block, mounted on the door, to pivot about an axis which extends perpendicularly to the hub axis and said projecting part induces the rotation of the latch bolt, by the pivoting movement thereof. In another embodiment, the projecting part (5a), which is securely connected to the handle (5), acts, at a lock-sided end (5b) thereof, upon a rotatable plate (4) which is mounted on the door (3) by means of a housing (6), said plate being rotatable by displacement of the handle and inducing the rotation of the square piece (2). As a result, even a conventional room door lock may be opened by an upward or downward tilting or pulling movement. The latch is thus unlocked by tilting or pulling the actuating handle and, on closing of the door, said latch closes automatically as normal.
